Well, boys, I took the plunge today and bought the DefTech Trinity for $1,900 (MSRP: $3,000, discount: $1,100).
12-month No Interest since my HT bank is close to Zero.:D

I should have it by next Wednesday.

Hopefully now I can join the MANLY subwoofer club along with SVS, JL, Velodyne, Epik, PSB, Axiom, Paradigm, and all the other great subs.

Congrats! I'm looking at jumping on the manly sub wagon I think. I'm most probably going to get a PB13 Ultra (unless I upgrade my receiver so as to enjoy the new high def stuff). I'm on the fence for now.;)

Yeah, BIG BASS is ADDICTIVE. Seems like everything about Home Theater is addictive.:)
I keep on telling myself that what I have is ENOUGH.
But whom am I kidding?
I just know that as soon as I pay off this Trinity (12-month, 0% Interest), I'll be buying something else!
No, it won't even take that long, unfortunately.:D
ADDICTIVE.

SVS PB13 Ultra looks awesome. Bloodstriker just got one, and it scared the heck out of him. You should get one soon!:D

Thanks, Mazer.
Last time I bought a sub (NHT), I kept it for about 10 years.
Hopefully, I will keep this one for 20.:D

You certainly qualify for the club now. You dues are payable on the first of each month and can be sent directly to me?;)
I would, except I kind of owe $1,900 right now & don't have any money. :D Besides, I thought the Manly Sub Club membership fee was waived the 1st yr?:)

You know it sounds funny, but subconsciously it may have played a role.

Performance and quality are always important, but aesthetics, reputation, name recognition, professional and peer reviews and opinions, and price play a role.

I kind of let fate play a role as well. The store manager only approved a price of $2,000, which is a $1,000 discount. I said I would wait, hoping that he would call back to say "Okay" to my offer of $1,900. He never called back.
I told myself that if he would not sell it to me for $1,900, I would not buy it. I thought it was a little silly that I would let $100 decide my subwoofer fate. But it's fate. So I call him back the very next day and said, "Are you sure you can't knock off another $100?":D

Congrats !!!!!

I'm really happy for you, and psyched to hear what you have to say about it...

I have read the reviews and thoughts, and they were all very positive...

I'm really glad that the Subwoofer market is really taking off here, as before this year there weren't a ton of spectacular products to choose from, but now things are getting really exciting for the overzealous consumer...

Wooo Hooo... I am also jealous... :D

Thanks!

Well, it's truly addictive & contagious!

If someone had recommended to me to buy a subwoofer at the beginning of the year, I would have said, "No way."

My current room is only 15' x 17' x 15', so my 2 BP7000SC's internal/built-in SuperCube Reference Subwoofers are already cranking out a lot of deep bass.

But all this constant persistent talk about subs from SVS, HSU, Velodyne, JL, Axiom, PSB, etc., really got to me!

New Year Resolutions

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
Besides Joe Schmoe, who else hasn't taken the plunge and bitten the dust on buying a subwoofer?

The two things I told myself I did not need at the beginning of the year were 1) Subwoofer & 2) Acoustic Panels. I have bought them both.:)

Isn't it almost time for New Year Resolutions?

I am telling myself that my 4 surround speakers (SM450 = 47Hz-20kHz +/-3dB @ 90dB w/m, & 40Hz @ -6dB) are more than good enough for surround sound. I mean they're just for ambient and panning effects, right? C'mon!

But I can already see myself buying 4 BP10B towers to replace them. I've been a BAD BOY, and I just don't see myself changing anytime soon!:D

When I first started my path into Home Theater, I heard about speakers costing $2K a pair. My immediate impression was, "Idiots! Crazy fools!"
Now look at me---the idiot, crazy fool.

Man, I'm sick.
I need psychological help.
