Well as you know so well, that you can return the SVS if you don't care for it...

Can you say that much about the Trinity... I mean your spending around 2K here... Will your dealer let you sample the Trinity in your home..?

Its a hard question to ask here, how many people have heard all of those subs..? I know I would like to know the answer, but not at the expense of my wallet... ?
I don't think they will let me return a SPECIAL order, which the Trinity would be.

I have never heard of anyone actually auditioning the Trinity, besides the professional review.

Physically, it looks very promising: 18" x 18" x 32" @ 175 lbs + Two 14-inch Sub Drivers + 2,000 Watts RMS.

But I don't know anyone who has actually listened to the Trinity.

I don't know where that comes from. But the guy has always been straight forward with me.
I second that mazer. Craig spends a lot of his personal time not to mention money helping people like me whom may be "on the fence" so to speak regarding a specific sub. Craig has taken the time to answer all of my questions. Personally, I appreciate what Craig does.

It is hard to know what the numbers mean without knowing the criterion of how they are derrived. A link would help.

A dream system from Hsu Research - $1675.00 shipped!

Which of these subs would be the tightest, deepest, most accurate, and loudest?

Velodyne DD-12, HSU VTF-3 HO, SVS PB13-Ultra, Def Tech Trinity?

And everyone thinks the $15,000 Velodyne DD 1812 is the best sub in the world, right?
I have not had the pleasure of auditioning all of these fine subs, but I do OWN a Hsu Research VTF-3 HO with Turbo. It is the finest of four subs I have ever owned, although I do watch movies, I listen to music all day as I surf the web from bed (Damn I love being retired at 42!). The Hsu is VERY musical, and with the port extension box (what Hsu calls a turbo ) it digs very deep, very loud, and with no complaints.

With your assumed budget I would buy the VTF-3 HO Turbo to cover 16 hz to 50 hz. Then I would buy a MBM-12 mid bass to cover 50-150 hz. This setup makes the system have much puncher mid bass, yet will dig deep to 16 cycles.

There is a mod here that has two of these monster VTF-3 HO Turbo's and a MBM-12, with a picture, I hope he finds this thread.

Those two units shipped come out to $1675.00 and I would dare say that this system would blow away anything for that price in this thread.

Good Luck, and may the bass be with you!

Missed it, sorry.

However, there is no criterion for the judgment, just two numbers? What is the scale? What is the reference point?
That thought crossed my mind.:)

Perhaps Mazer, Mike, & Sheep might know more.

I think you should fullfil your destiny, and get the Trinity...

You are a Def Tech guy through and through.... The trinity has gotten some great reviews and I doubt you will be disappointed...

Plus, we will all have someone here to give us first hand (dare I say) objective  thoughts on it... :)

Good luck on your descision buddy... can't wait to see what you get...

Thanks, Warpdvr!

I heard the SuperCube III, II, I, & even Reference were not as impressive as Def Tech says, according to Tom Nousaine's measurements. However, I don't think Tom Nousaine ever tested the Trinity Sub--unless I missed it somewhere. I think Sheep provided the link once, but I'm not sure.

If I buy a sub, it will probably be Jan or Feb.

When I first got on this forum, I never thought I would buy another Sub. I figured the 2 SuperCube Reference Subs in the BP7000SCs were enough. I thought they blew my old NHT sub out of the water. But after reading all these threads, you guys finally got to me!:D

I must have a sub, and it can't be a cute little 10"x10"x10" cube either. It has to be big and heavy.

If you want a real sub I suggest you quit looking at all those toys you are posting about and get a real driver and build a sub or hire someone to. Now, don't get me wrong - all those subs you are posting about are great subs, but if you want real output at 10Hz and basically zero distortion look into the 18" LMS-Ultra Driver (here are measurements). This driver put in the proper cabinet makes every single other subwoofer on your list look like a little girls toy.

If you really want a serious serious woofer that is big, heavy and might be able to crack your foundation get this one no questions. Also, if you do I am stopping buy to have my innards shaken :D.

Now were talkin.... that is a monster driver not to be outdone by any subs...

I am usually hesitant to suggest a DIY sub, especially some of that magnitude.. One would be hard pressed to find a sub built properly with that driver that will be equaled, period...

The LMS will take loads of up to 5000 watts....:eek:

Even the TC Sounds TC2000(a much lower grade driver), in a proper ported or passive radiator cabinet, has no peer when it comes to commercial subwoofers at ANY cost -- not that I know about.

http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/subwoofer-tests/5758-diy-tc-sounds-tc-2000-15-ported-270l.html

Notice the distortion vs. SPL curves. Incredible. Notice the 110dB distortion trace: 5% THD at 17Hz. At the real-world SPL uses of 90 dB(100dB in a room), that the speaker does not exceed 1 percent THD at 17Hz. Note that in room, this would be about 10dB higher than these 2M groundplane measurements.

That the LMS is considerably superior speaks volumes about TC Sounds' engineering abilities when it comes to woofers.

If these measurements had been available to verify the quality of these drivers when they were still available, I would have purchased 2 of the 15" TC2000 drivers. It's too bad that now you have to pay 2x as much for the drivers under the Audio Pulse label. :(

TC Sounds already MADE pre-built subs using those drivers. Why labor away when you can buy one?

Hm, seems the website is down. When the Home Audio section pops up, look at www.tcsounds.com 's subwoofers.

tc sounds doesn't sell direct anymore (unless there are no dealers near you). they've renamed the company that sells the drivers audiopulse and as of now have no home subs

I am extremely happy I grabbed a set of the 15" TC-2K's... and I can't wait to hear them... I am putting them in a 320L or so box each...
I wish I would have bought a couple of the LMS drivers. Even in the 15".

I have been following those drivers for quite some time, and when the news came out of them no longer doing direct sales, I jumped on the bandwagon.
I also grabbed a couple of the 18" Passives, thinking I might go the route of passive, but I would need 2 for each of those 15" 2K's.

TC is doing direct sales if you don't have a distributer in your area. you could have to call them, but their forums are open again... If you wanted to pay... I guess it comes down to figuring out what quality subwoofing is worth to you.
