Which of these subs would be the tightest, deepest, most accurate, and loudest?

Velodyne DD-12, HSU VTF-3 HO, SVS PB13-Ultra, Def Tech Trinity?

And everyone thinks the $15,000 Velodyne DD 1812 is the best sub in the world, right?

I don't know where that comes from. But the guy has always been straight forward with me.

out of the 4 ... the PB13 seems to have a good average of those requirements + a good price tag

there are few people who think the 1812 is the "best" ... it's hardly movable, too expensive, has some flaw in its built in crossover ... it's better to get 4 DD18's. <- for me, that's the best

but for PURE accuracy and the most minimal distortion, the DD18 gets my vote. but alas, it's all about tradeoffs ... it sacrifices the low end when pushed too loud to minimize distortion.

Also look at Elemental Designs, Epik Subwoofers, and maybe even the Parts Express Titanic MKIII subwoofer kits.

I've recently been asking a similar question regarding which sub is preferable based on those requirements. I'd suggest taking a look at the thread "help with a subwoofer decision." hopefully you'll find it useful.

Out of those, I would go for the Ultra 13....

Seems to me that this is a budget thread... or bang for your buck...

Is there a WAF involved.... seems to me that the SVS would match to def tech's quite well in sound and looks... :)

Probably the PB13, but I haven't hear it... although I bet the Trininty would give it a good run for the money as well.

Including $5,000 JL Audio F113

If money were not a factor, would the $15K DD-1812, $5K JL F113, $3K DD-12, & $3K Trinity outperform the less expensive VTF-3 & 13-Ultra?

Or are they all equivalent for the most part?

Kind of like the saying that speakers that cost over $4K/pr are all the same?

Point of diminishing returns?

So you guys think I would be wasting $300 if I were to buy the Trinity for $2K instead of the Piano Gloss Black 13-Ultra for $1,700?

From what I have read, the Ultra is being compared very close to the
JL F113. But at a huge savings over the JL F113. Seems like a no brainier to me.

And IMO I think you would be wasting more then $300 bucks purchasing the Trinity. You'd be wasting $2000.

I thought the Ultra is $1,700 for Black Gloss Piano?

I can get the Trinity for $2K, including Taxes.

no they're all not the same.
they all have different design goals.

e.g.
the DD1812 is a very low distortion subwoofer (like all DD subs) but this one divides the bass frequencies between the two drivers.

the JL audio sub is expensive because of its driver and big amp, because it's design goal is to have a very small enclosure

also, "outperform" can mean a lot of things to different people, outperform can mean - louder, sound better, spl:size ratio

True, but you'd be wasting $2000 on the Trinity, but investing in your HT system with the Ultra at $1700. :D

Understand? :D

I have a Velo 18", but it's not the DD series, it's the HGS series. I have yet to hear anything that can compete with it. Thankfully, I haven't heard the DD 18". I don't need to be spending more money.

Well as you know so well, that you can return the SVS if you don't care for it...

Can you say that much about the Trinity... I mean your spending around 2K here... Will your dealer let you sample the Trinity in your home..?

Its a hard question to ask here, how many people have heard all of those subs..? I know I would like to know the answer, but not at the expense of my wallet... ?
