Word on the street is that this player looks pretty much like the toshiba xa2 on the inside. All innards aside, does anyone here know much more about this player's performance? I see it generally retails upwards of $700 so it had better be fairly flawless. I heard rumblings about Integra releasing a player just like this one. Looks like Onkyo decided to take the cake with it's more "bargain" associated name brand.

Any thoughts? I haven't see much discussion on our end regarding this player?

That is all...

EDIT: and then I just came across this article: http://formatwarcentral.com/index.php/2007/11/27/onkyo-dumps-dv-hd805-blames-toshiba-price-cuts/

Looks like Toshiba's pricing was just too much for Onkyo to contend with...

Toshiba is shelling out the biggest buck for HD DVD obviously, that could explain why the Onkyo DV-HD805 looks the same on the inside. Having the Onkyo brand on the front appeals to a certain audience. To be honest I would just wait a little longer (after Christmas) to purchase an HD DVD or Blu-ray player. I keep hearing, and I know not what solidity there is in this, that Blu-ray is outselling HD DVD by wide margins in software sales.

Oh I'll wait, my find. Best reason to wait? I have no money right now...
