Hello fellas,

I am not sure I am utilizing all my sweet A/V system can do for me. For the past 2 years I have been thoroughly enjoying it. I have a RX-V2500 Yamaha receiver, 5.1 Aperion Audio system, Xbox 360, comcast digital HD cable, and new 42 inch panasonic HDTV plasma. All in a small carpeted room/corner of my new basement.

At the time I set it all up well, researched best settings for my HDTV and incorporated, did the YPAO on the yamaha receiver, then changed speaker size to small, bass LFE set to sub, changed crossover to 80, experimented with sub location, and have experimented with DSP, PLII, and other settings on receiver when listening to TV, movies, gaming, and listening to music.

All in all I am confident I am doing alot right. And the experience is stellar.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if I am not tapping into the full potential of the experience - specifically in the receiver dept.

For example, when listening to music, I do like some of the Rock settings (roxy theater, etc.) or straight effect, however, all of those only come through 2 channels, and thus, wind up listening to music with in 7 channel stereo instead, because it sounds fuller. Are there any settings or ways to enjoy the other effects (roxy theater, etc.) through 7 channels (all speakers)? Is there a PLII Music setting or others I can tap into. that utilize all of my speakers when listening to music?

Last question: I get confused about which effect is actually being utilized when watching movies, TV, or xbox 360? Like if/when I choose things like PLII or DTH...AND then choose one of the DSP modes like Sci-Fi or Adventure. Am I listening to both at the same time, or is one trumping the other each time I select it? For example, I almost always choose "Sci-Fi" or "Adventure" when listening to movies, and choose "Game" when playing Xbox 360. Whatcha'll think?

Any thoughts? Tips? Any other effects you all like?

Thanx in advance, boys!

For music, just try straight PLII and see how that suits your taste.
For the other Q, try using just straight DD 5.1/7.1 but if you do use the other modes, it should still be in that multi ch mode.
