I just bought component cables for my new theater system and now when i play a dvd and my xbox it has lines going across the screen, half of the time the lines aren't real visible. Is there anything I could do that will make the lines go away. Thanks

No expert but it sounds like your picking up RF interfearance, make sure there are no power wires crossing the component cables. Move them around and see if it helps.

Are these vertical lines or horizontal lines?
A classic case of ground loop issue. Disconnect the cable/sat TV at the wall and see if that cures the problem. If so, you need this isolator at the wall:

You may want to print that page and see if Radio Shack has one for less.

Yeah they're horizontal lines, not real noticable but I can tell they're there.

Sure sounds like the symptoms of a ground loop to me.

The reason I asked is because if it is a Sony Trinitron (Sony's special way of making tube televisions) there are always two horizontal lines crossing the screen, it is just a landmark of Sony trinitron displays to do this.

Are they in a fixed position of roll up or down? If they roll, it is ground loop issue.
If they are stationery, have a CRT TV, they are fly back lines visible when the CRT is driven too hard. May want to play with the setup menu, brightness, contrast and sharpness.
