EMO craps on Rat...what to do?

I pulled the left channel module and sent it in, changed the speaker wires and cable from the center to the left so I could play music (it is easy to get to the amp). This left me without a center amp.
Ahhh...thanks for the explanation. I had assumed that you needed to send in the chassis to fix the issue with the 12V trigger. Now I understand.

I just can't believe that you don't have any other old receivers around the house. Oh, the shame. ;)

When it rains, it pours.
First, the job.
Then the BRAND NEW Amplifier?
Just hang in there!
Things will get better!

Man, I don't know about Emotiva!

Makes me wonder about the quality these days with all these less expensive products.

My Acurus amps are over 10 years old and I've never had one problem with them.

Just hang in there, man!

I know; I assume it will be after the first of the year before I find something.

I am starting to have doubts about EMO too. The last thing I want is an amp with issues.

The good news is that my old drag race sponsor called me yesterday and wants to get back into racing and wants me to be his driver. I was his driver for 5 years and then he "retired" from racing. There is no money in it for me but I get to tear up his stuff for free. I bet I burned up 250K of motors, tires and trannies durning the 5 years I drove for him not to mention body work and paint when I would bounce it off the guardrail. He said he has two cars built that I can choose from. One is a 70's Vette with a 632 ci natural aspirated motor and the other is a 78 camaro with a 598 ci nitrous motor. I am going out to the shop this afternoon and take a look and see what his actual plan is. We raced Pro-Mod before but I dont thing these are anywhere near Pro-Mod status; more likely Outlaw street cars. Anyway it should help me keep my mind off of having no job for awhile:D I will take some pictures and post them on here if you guys want to see them.

Honestly, I would just wait for your amp to get fixed, I know it sucks, but you don't want to lose out on the full experience.

btw, how did you find out what the exact problem was? And what is Emo doing to fix it, are then sending you a new module, or are you having to send the bad module in for repair?
Yeah, I feel kind of the same. If I saw Ratatouille BD without a complete system, I would have to go back and watch it again later when I do have a complete system. This movie is awesome in terms of everything. The soundtrack blows away Transformers HD HDVD many times over.

Note to DreamWorks & whomever produced Transformers HD DVD: You piece of crap! Redo Transformers in TrueHD or PCM 24bit!!!:D

I thought transformers sounded awesome in regular 5.1, if you say Ratatouille blows the Transformers DD+ soundtrack away, I really can't wait to hear it.

I'm not sure if that's a good idea for you right now. We know you are a little bored, but perhaps this is a little bit dangerous? Especially since you may be a little bit distracted just a tad bit right now?

You know the weird thing about Transformers HD DVD is that some people think it sounds awesome, and some don't.

I saw it on two different systems:
1) My own system
2) LG Combo + Monster Cable THX Select Certified Speaker System (tower L/R, Monitor Center & Surrounds, TWO subwoofers) in an "average" room. I'd say about 16' x 20' room.

I was disappointed with Transformers HD DVD both times.

Ratatouille is as clear as sound gets. Dialogues are crystal clear. Special sound effects panning is crystal clear & as cool as can be. The bass is fantastic, but never too boomy.

I don't know. I might have to get the new $800 Samsung BD-UP5000 Combo player and watch Transformers again or something. I heard that my $800 Toshiba HD-XA1 is top notch in sound quality, but I don't know.

it's probably not the player, I bet it's those crappy white van speakers you are using. :p

But Mom....

I seriously doubt that either of the cars will even reach speeds of 180mph in the 1/4 mile so I can drive them with one eye closed. The Pro-Mod I raced still had the front tires off the ground when it would cross the finish line!

I am going to wait until my amps get back before I watch Ratatouille.

Could be.:D
Shoot, those "Definitive" name plates are probably fake too.:)

I believe Gene also wrote that he was not quite impressed with Transformers HD DVD either. I believe he said it sounded "compressed"? That's my impression also.

Hey, that's Mr. Mom to you!:D

Yeah, Ratatouille deserves the best sound you have. Because of this movie, I plan on buying every single Pixar Animation films on BLU-RAY! Thank God, they are not on HD DVD or else they might have sounded like Transformers.:D
Matrix Trilogy was great on HD DVD, though. But who knows? It might even be better on blu-ray.

But I would not watch Ratatouille or any blu-ray or HD movies without the best sound you have.

I try not to watch any quality dvd, HD, BD or whatever, without the best sound I have. It's gotten to the point where I don't even want to watch movies at any my friends places unless they have a decent system, and most of them don't.

That's how I am!:D
My wife tries to get me to watch movies in our master bedroom w/ just a regular TV. I roll my eyes  and say, "You are joking, right?"

My wife said, "I don't want you to have a bigger better home theater room because you will just live in there.":D

She also said, "You are not going to replace your current speakers with more expensive ones are you?"

I said, "No. $150 is my limit. I promise.":D

So, yeah, definitely watch movies with the best complete system.

The AVR is almost impossible to get to at this point. It would require removing 300lbs of crap out of the credenza just to get to the back of it. Since my amp will be back in action next week, not going through the trouble.

Oh and I feel like I dont have a lot of incentive to look for a job; my full paycheck comes every week, my corporate credit card still works, my company phone still works, I have full benefits...man this company has to be the worst at letting people go...
what company were you at, or what kind of job?

Why don't you just take the line-level center-channel output that was going to the amp, and plug in into the audio input of the TV? Your TV has built-in speakers and amp, and it's right where a center channel belongs, yes?

that may work, but it wouldn't sound near as good as having a real center channel with 200 watts on it.

You are joking, right?

Would you watch a movie in your home theater using a TV's speakers?

TV speakers are about the worst speakers because companies know that people who own $4,000 73" HDTVs can afford a great Home Theater Speaker System.

Why on earth would you use a TV's speaker in a home theater system?

You are joking.

Okay, you almost got me there.:D
