help i got like 600-700bucks

ok so im poor as hell and im just wondering if one of you with alot more experience than me could PLEASE help me pick a good receiver within the 600-700 dollar price range. i just dont want to pick the wrong thing. Thanks in advance.

As mentioned above, that is a good receiver and price. But, what are you using it for, what setup, etc?

im actually just building a system from the ground up. I dont have alot of money so im going to buy one piece at a time starting with the receiver. Im want to use the receiver for surround sound on my tv but also for listening to music.

Everyone will agree that you should spend most of your budget on speakers.
So I would spend $300 on a receiver and $1,000 on speakers if your budget is a total of $1,300.

Example, Onkyo SR505 for $244.88.
