PS3, steaming and TVersity

I have been using my upconverting dvd player to play divx files but now since I got the A3 it is taking up the hdmi port that it was on. I just installed TVersity on my home server and have it streaming all my divx to the PS3. So far it works great but the quality is only alright as the PS3 is upconverting all the files to 1080p. But for watching missed shows it works like a charm.

I had some trouble at first getting the PS3 to see the media server but it was easily fixed by making sure the port was open on windows firewall and also open on the router by forward it to the PS3 ip address.

Can you explain a little about what TVersity is. Is it a pay service?

It's basically a media server app that allows you to stream movies, music, pictures, etc. from a PC to your xbox360, ps3, wii, psp, or any other media center device. It is completely free. I used to still have my divx dvd player connected to my new tv but since I got the hd-dvd I longer have a spare hdmi port. So now all I do is whenever I miss a tv show I just download it on divx to my and stream it to my ps3.
