I finally gave into pressure and temptation and bought a PS3, and boy am I statisfied! But I have a problem, when I play a CD it only plays on one speaker. Has anyone had this problem and how do I fix it? I have the PS3 connected via optical.

I have some of the same electronics, and I connected all my audio optical on the LMC-1. Have you tried another optical cable? I get mine from Blue Jeans. How about another optical port? You may want to call Lonnie at Emotiva, but I'm not sure its the prepro.

Hi nick,

Does everything else work OK? Can you play stereo from a CD player? Along the same lines as Gimpy Ric suggested, you may swap the cable and inputs around with known working devices.

Thanks for the quick responces. When I play movies and games the sound is fine. So I do not think it is the optical. I think it might be one of the music settings on the PS3.

If one channel works on the optical it cannot be the cable; how could it?:D

Not familiar with the PS3 menu so you need to explore it, make sure it is set to bitstream.
Does this happen with all the CDs you have played or just one? But event hat would not make sense.

HA! Nevermind. Somehow one of my wires came out of my speaker that was not playing sound.

Thanks for the feedback:D
Can you use banana plugs the expanding ones? That will lock it in there to prevent this hart attack mode:D

That is what I have. I think it came loose when I was putting the PS3 into the entertainment center and moving wires around.

Boy, you must not have tightened the living daylights out of that locking banana plug. Nest time:D Or, you have gremlins running around in there. Call the ghost busters;)

I am so glad I am not the only person this happened to. ;) About a year ago I re-wired my center speaker with banana plugs. After I turned everything on, I couldn't get any sound out of the center speaker. I even called my local dealer to see if he knew what the problem was. After I got off the phone, I realized I hadn't secured one of the speaker wires firmly enough, and one of our cats had pulled out the wire. I was too embarrassed to call the dealer back to tell him what the actual problem was.

That is why the first thing they tell you to do in trouble shooting is to make sure the device is plugged in and the power is on:D
