The sub hit Friday (10/26/07) exactly one month from date of order. Shipping box arrived in good condition. The finish is not bad like some make it out to be. I mean if you REALLY need the tiger maple veneer hand rubbed by peruvian mountain people with linseed oil 30 times over with cotton swabs all under 'fair trade' ethics, this may not be the sub for you.

It looks good in the room however. The sub hits hard, it hits low and the sound doesn't get in the way. It simply lends presence. It had the five martini glasses on a tray upstairs clinking. The way I like them, shaken not stirred. This is what a sub should do. Not boomy at all, very tight.

There is some more tweaking to do. I am going to get it off the carpet a bit more and see how that works. Pics coming...

I have been very happy with Elemental Designs. BTW, my buddy brought over his 15" velo, oops... his mistake.

Ok, a few photos.

The white smudging that you see is from the photography. It doesn't exist on the sub itself. The sub arrived in clean condition. A well built box.

I only recently discovered this company due to some posts on these forums. To say I am intreguied by the subs they are building would be an understatement. For the money... and free shipping it seems like a bargain. Time for me to start saving quarters... ;)

Which Velo? I assume the DLS5000R which I'm sure the eD would smoke, but if not, then please tell us.

I do believe that is the one. His was in a wood grain finish though.

Wood grain doesn't equal DLS, it's either SPL1500 or DD15. If so, it's not likely a smoking, but I might agree that the eD is better for HT/gaming. I loved the DD15 for music, but thought it lagged behind a SVS 20-39+ for HT...too controlled at the bottom, but then what did I know???

I don't think a sub can be too controlled. That is like saying a speaker has too much sound quality or is too accurate.

It me be that it just did not have the same output level at such low frequencies.

Poor word choice...what I meant to convey...

The ported SVS Plus was more visceral and had more output down low. The DD was much more linear and a monster above 30hz. Had I, at the time, a better music rig, I probably would have had a different opinion about my preference.

The eD sub compared to an SPL or DD Velo probably exhibits similarities to the SVS comparison. I doubt it it smokes them, but the OP may prefer the eD certainly.

ED subs

ED also has a couple of subs that they do not have listed on their site yet. They have an A7S-450 and an A7-450. The A7S-450 is a sealed 18" sub in a 22.25" cube. The A7-450 is a ported 18" sub approximately 37" high, 22" wide and 24" deep. The A7-450 will have three 4" ports. Both of these have amp choices of 550 or 1300 watts.

Also Craigsub on AVS is getting an A5-350 this week for testing. I expect it do do well.

think there is any way they will release the blue prints of these designs? half the fun for me is building the boxes myself. the reason i'm asknig is because my designing of ported boxes for ht is lacking....

I read on this site but do not post much. I did buy a pair of RBH 661-SE Burled Walnut speakers off of a guy on this site. Are your pair of A7-450's still waiting on wood shop?
