I'd like to have the 1080p capabilities in the player I get, since yes you can tell the difference even on a 42" (not a theory) IF you sit close enough to the TV. It's all a matter of viewing distance. I don't know if your set will accept a 1080p input or not, even though it's a 1080p display; I think the latest Home theater magazine has an article listing the input capabilities of all major plasma/lcd sets, like if it accepts 1080p/24 or not. Could be mistaken but I thought that was listed for many.
i agree that you can tell the difference between 720 and 1080... thats why i called it a theory (theory's are not proven facts).... and i said my tv does accept 1080p, i said that in my post. did you read my post??

Why the attitude? Come on it's unnecessary. Yes I actually replied to your post without reading a word of it.
I meant whether your TV's input accepted a 1080p/24fps input or not, since the Toshiba HD-A30 will output a 1080p/24fps signal as opposed to the HD-A3 which as you said only does 1080i, much less have the 24fps output. If your set would correctly process 24fps material without having to do a 3:2 pulldown to display it at 60Hz, then I'd spring for the nicer HD-A30 player in a second to get a smoother picture. If your TV won't do display a 24fps signal without 3:2 processing, then I still might get the nicer player if it happens to do a better job than the TV does in creating the 3:2 sequence you'll need. I think this last situation is what you'll have to figure out since I don't think the Panasonic set you have accepts a 24fps signal without 3:2 processing the signal before displaying it. It's not something you'd notice in most cases and you'd probably have to consciously look to see the difference, but just thought it was worth considering since you were debating between the HD-A3 & HD-A30.

It is as close as you can come to them. Atomic theory comes to mind, theory of gravity, relativity, evolution, and it goes on and on:D
But those are scientific theories. Civilians use it in another way though.

I may go up there at lunch to see what they have as far as HD-DVD's, but for now I'll just rent them from Netflix, and rent my bluray discs from blockbuster.

Yeah, that's the SMART thing to do.:D
Only buy the MUST-HAVES and not WASTE money on the majority of the average movies.

14.99 HD DVDs @ Wally world

Don't waste your time as there are only three titles available at that price.:(

12 Monkeys
Big Lebowski
Blood Diamond

Blood Diamond is the only one I would be intrested in. They do have Batman Begins for $18.97, though. Transformers is still $29.97

Batman Begins was awesome, and the HD-DVD review that was done by Audioholics was very good. But like I said, I will just rent the movies for now... I figured I could get that player and sell my upconverting player since the HD-A2 upconverts as well, that way I have the best of both worlds.

Amazon already has used HD-DVDs. I got Transformer for $25/6 delivered:D

Yes, I wasted time and gas to drive to WalMart for DvDs but found old stuff not worth purchasing for me.
