Hey people Im new to the forum, thanks for having me. Im a tech freak and I love audio systems. I recently bid and won a home theater system on ebay, (have not sent payment yet..). Its called a G-608 from Genesis Audio Labs. Honestly I saw the net worth of the system which was $4799.00 and at 4 minutes left on the bidding I won it for $260.00 bucks. Not bad ehh. Well I really didn't think I was going to win and I think its a bogus system. Has anyone heard of this company or system. The website address is www genesismedialabs. There are many legitimate Genesis companies out there but I kinda think this one isn't. If it is really what its described as then hey, Im happy but I dont want to shell out 360.00 bucks for a Durabrand home theater system that looks nice. Anyway check out their site guys let me know what you think, do the technical specifications seem to be right or an exageration to intise me. Thanks Guys, THEDUDE

And they said no one would buy scam speakers from Ebay. Sorry to hear that you are stuck with these speakers. Be careful using them, they may be hazardous to your existing audio equipment. They may be very low impedance and lower priced amplifiers and receivers aren't equipped to handle low impedances all the time.

And if you haven't paid for them yet, I would not do so. I would start a new Ebay account before I would buy those.;)

Yep, they are White Van speakers, and in a side note, there is a Genesis speaker manufacture that has products worth thousands of dollars, but the Genesis in question ant' them.

Well I guess it comes with its own amplifier. The amplifier unit has the woofer built in, it is not very high power or anything for sure. But if it where to blow up at least no other gear would be damaged.;)

But I would still skip on payment if possible.:D

yeah...the people selling this either:

got scammed, and are trying to recoup their losses...or...
are scammers, and are trying to sucker you.

In either case, I'd not send a dime.

Definetely don't pay for the speakers. Those white van "companies" just put a bunch of jibberish on a "spec sheet" to make the products sound fancy.

Particularly entertaining are the "specs" for the G-Z4 Receiver. :D 5.1 DCS and eds? Ultra Digital Labs?? Cooling system on amp? I sure hope so. And my favorite spec... "Absolute power!". :D

Wow, where can I get one of those bad boys? I can live without EDS, but I've been looking for 5.1 DCS for YEARS! :)

Digital Crack...
The drug of choice for most Audioholics these days. I've been hooked on that stuff for years. I'm just barely able to hold my head above water with the stuff made in Hollywood that is cut with compressed audio. I gotta fight the urge to go pure digital crack with these new uncompressed formats. That'll probably do me in after a 72 hour binge of BD and HD-DVD.

The first taste is free, but after that it'll cost you...

Hey come on... $260.00 for all that stuff...

It looks cool to me... I'd buy it, just to give as a present, to someone who is hurting way more for money then I... ;)

I was thinking: "Am I the only one here who thinks he needs to pay for them since he legitimately bid and won the item?"

It's not necessarily a "scam" per se if they didn't lie about anything and you thought you were getting a good deal (ie they didn't coerce you). What it is, is a sly and shady business model that tends to prey on the greedy.

Popping out the back of a van and saying "your employer had some extra left over from a job and you need to offload these incredibly expensive speakers" is a scam.

You, on the other hand, put a legitimate bid on a product you did absolutely no prior research on. Pay up and move on.

No, Clint. You are not.

I like you fail to see any scam or misrepresentation. I see someone second guessing his choice after bidding, and only then doing research on the products and looking for opinions that suit his purpose (which there is no shortage of here, unfortunately).

Honor your obligation and pay your debt.

Really? Saying that the net worth is $4799 seems like an honest representation to you guys? Not to me.
Well, it may not seem that way to you, but in the business world, one can claim any msrp (at least in this country). That by itself does not constitute any fraud.

I like how you put "you" in bold. I truly have been singled out now as the only idiot unfamiliar with the concept of MSRP. :)

I view "MSRP" and "net worth" as different. However, please note that nowhere did I mention if the person should or should not pay for the item. Only that I believe that claiming that the item is worth $4799 is not an honest representation.

Lighten up. I was simply responding to your post...and I wanted to be clear about that. You can call yourself the village idiot if you like. I have not done that, nor would I.

Back on point: it is much akin to truck manufacturers claiming a new Ram is worth 45k, but letting it drive off the floor for 30k. It is simply the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price...not necessarily its' "worth" as you posted. In fact, dare I say, it is not at all its' "worth"...just its' msrp.

I have no pity for the op as so many here seem to have. Do your research and come here asking questions prior to purchasing. You will then be a better informed consumer. You bid (successfully and w/o misrepresentation) you pay!

I'm not trying to pick on you Adam, but that is not what you wrote in your prior post (#16). Had the seller posted that its' "net worth" was $4799 (as opposed to msrp), there may be a valid argument for misrepresentation.
