Can a speaker that has only 1 woofer and 1 tweeter as in a Totem Arro for example sound as detailed and have the bass as a speaker with numerous bass radiators, a mid, and a tweeter? I'm speaking of the Mission Elegante towers 82 and 83 as an example. I look forward to your opinions. Thanks.

I say yes. But I have not heard both types of systems you describe.

I can't really give a specific example [not much high-end brand experience], but I'm thinking like high end bookshelves with tweeter + woofer vs floorstanders with multiple drivers [same price range of course].

Edit; Maybe I do have an example

Infinity Beta 50 [~$800/pr]
vs
RBH MC-6C [~$850/pr]

Perhaps the RBH's sound better? I definitely think it's possible.

I heard the arros before. recently. they are very good speakers but they lack a strong bass. you will hear it. but you won't really feel it if that makes any sense. but the arros do sound very detailed. I like them better than the rainmakers but I think the rainmakers actually have a little better bass.

Totems are a unique sound (I have a pair, Rainmakers, and I love them).

They won't floor you with slamming bass but they have reasonable depth. The number of drivers isn't really the big issue though, you can have a great speaker with two drivers or a great speaker with 6.

The Infinitys would likely sound larger, go deeper and go louder given a certain wattage. The RBHs may be more accoustically accurate, have less cabinet resonance, and if mated with a subwoofer possibly walk all over the Infinitys in all aspects other than efficiency.

Yes, and no. Yes because the quantity of drivers has nothing to do with the quality of the sound, and no because it's typically unlikely (but not imposable) that a single woofer would have better low frequency output than multiple woofers.

...Unless WmAx got his hands on the Infinites. :p

A lot of variables effect the performance of a speaker. The number of drivers is just one of those variables, and not the deciding factor.
