Computer savy? Tunneling?

Ok,

My school's network has blocked numerous websites and keywords and I am having some trouble navigating to one of my favorite websites, Ebay. I have tried tunneling but for some reason it isn't working with Ebay. It works with the other blocked websites such as Youtube and Myspace (which I feel that myspace should be blocked and I have no idea why anyone would visit youtube considering that we don't have audio on but maybe two computers in the entire school building). I have tried Ninjaproxy, which works fine for everything that is blocked, aside from Ebay.

Message received when trying to get on ebay without tunnel is as follows.

When I tunnel it shows the website loading, then reverts to the tunnel homepage without warning after less than a second of load time.

It would be awesome if someone could help find a way around this stupid block.

Thank you:)

Be careful. Wilfully disobeying school rules is grounds for expulsion. Your opinion of the block is irrelevant if they catch you tunneling past it.

Many students have been caught tunneling, none have been expelled. The school wants the student's money.;)

So aside from possible expulsion, how do a bypass the block?

The easiest way I know of doing this is using google translate. Just have it translate ebay's webpage to english. I know this used to work a couple years ago.

http://www.google.com/translate_t

If that doesn't work google "proxy site" and type your web addresses through them. That will do the same thing, but google is generally easier to use.

Well, as I already mentioned I have tried tunnel sites (ninjaproxy and a few others) which are also called proxy servers.

What do you mean "translate". Translate English to English?

YAY, google works for everything.

Edit: ran into a problem, I can't do any user specific searches, not even using ebay's tools. I can go to receivers for example, but can't search for a particular brand even with the list they provide.:(

That is kind of weird..I have never run into that problem I would keep playing with it. Sometimes you will have to copy paste the new URL into google translate.

edit: What exactly happens when you do a search? I just used google translate (spanish to english) then searched out receiver. Went to home audio then searched for pioneer and everything worked fine. Let me know, I might be able to help you out more.

There will be some differences though as I am not on a server that has anything blocked

Yeah, it is because of the server.

I can't get the URL because it blocks the URL once I click search, taking me to the same thing as before. I could email myself the links to the auctions I want to watch or make some general search links and email those as well.

I just don't understand why I can easily go to myspace (which I hate and don't use) and youtube (which there is no point to use) but Ebay is so blocked up, it makes no sense why they would go to such lengths to block Ebay when Myspace and Youtube are much bigger problems. (it is worth noting that youtube and myspace are blocked, but using a tunnel [proxy server] gets you in no trouble, but not Ebay:confused:)

Couldn't you pull up the list and do a word search on the page? That might help narrow it down.

You mean pull up their list and click on one of the brand areas. Example if I where looking for yamaha receivers I would go to the left side of the page and select yamaha in the brands section? If that is what you are suggesting I already tried it, didn't work.

I am at home now, so any testing cannot be done until Monday.:)

No no, word search. Control + F = word search. You type in what words you want to find, and it locates them. Then you click the next or previous buttons to scroll through them all..
