Just pulled the trigger on the eD A5-350 sub. Production time is between 3 to 4 weeks and 3 days to ship from Iowa to doorstop.

I know that there are some that are 'concerned' about eD and their after delivery windows, after sales support. I will keep you posted.

They give you an account on the site so you can track the progress.

Sounds cool. Let us know what you think! I have heard much good about them, but never knew they were in IA. I contacted them and should be touring their factory sometime soon. They said they prefer weekdays which is a slight pain, but I might have to skip out on class one day for this one :D. If I manage everything I will be sure to take as many pictures as they let me take.

Ok the sub just went from ordered to 'Box Under Construction' as of 10/10/07. So 3 weeks to get the the built phase.

I called and they let me know that next Wednesday/Thursday it should be out of paint and shipped. Woo hoo. So 4 weeks almost on the spot.

It sure takes a long time to build though. It seems like a one man operation. With a cnc router they should be able to whip out subs. I think they build them on an "as ordered basis".

It makes me think about getting into the sub business as well. I have some pretty good designs planned already. I could call it Annunaki Audio. :D

I would work something out. Probably like 10% or so.

I am half serious about this. I just need to stock up on the infrastructure. Tools and such, some materials and come up with some names for products. I have a pretty good business model set up. I am thinking I want to complete an electrical engineering degree first, but that could be added later too.

I would start small and see how it went from there.

what driver will you be using?

active or passive design?
if active, that would be 110v right?

I figure starting small, with just myself, no help, I could probably do 3-4 complete enclosure builds per day (with the right tools). Then finishing the next day and building 3-4 more. I would stress the hand built part and offer complete custom building for an individual based upon their room's needs or their wants. I would need a bit of start up capital too. I would keep pricing in line with others out their as well.

I have a few drivers in mind. Part of the undertaking would be working out a deal with a woofer suppplier. I would want certain criterion met with the driver(s).

I am not giving away secrets yet. :D

I would offer active and passive designs. You are correct with the 110V

annunaki, that would be a pretty cool undertaking if you can get it off the ground. Some of the pictures you have posted with picturess of your builds look great. Plus you will likely have some customers through this place ;).

FYI, I will be visiting the eD factory mid November for a tour and will be taking tons a pictures and will surely report back on AH for all those interested. They are only an hour away from where I live so it will be a great time.

That is cool. I would like to see their operation myself.

Sorry OP I am not trying to take over your thread. I hope you receive your sub soon. I want to hear how it performs.

I can always hi-jack it back. I think you should call your 2500 watt, four 15" 16Hz tuned, 525lb monster the "Brown Note" :D

As of 10/22/07 still in paint room. So I called them this morning. They tell me that they had a problem with the compressor overheating due to improper voltage supplying it (~200 volts vs. 240). They need to re-shoot the paint job. Looking at, cross my fingers, a Wednesday ship date. Still should fit into the four week time frame if they ship on Wednesday +/- a day or two.

Final Assembly

Alright, looks like they have compressed air. The sub hit final assembly today:

They need to switch over to Snag-it. Their spray paint tool doesn't even need air:D
