Hi,
We just move in a new house. They have four mounted ceiling speakers. There are 8 white RCA jacks on the wall. There is a A/B selector button next to those RCE jacks. On another wall, there are a A/B speaker hook ups switch. I tried to hook up those RCA jacks my Sony 5.1 dolby Receiver but there were no sound or power from those speakers. I checked the breaker box and everything is ok. Any suggestion? Please help.

It's hard to picture what you are describing but the various wall plates may not have anything to do with each other.

Maybe it's just a terminology mistake, but typically speakers are not connected to RCA jacks. Are they really binding posts? How did you connect the receiver to the wall plates?

Help

I connected my receiver 5.1 left/right white/red speakers output to those jacks. I tried different configurations but to no avail. Those jacks are white. There are 8 of them on one wall plate. I assumed that they are those four ceiling speakers connections.

See that is the part that doesn't make any sense to me. You seem to be talking about RCA jacks and analog audio cables with one Red plug and one White plug. Those are not for speakers and there are no outputs of that type on a receiver that would go to speakers unless you have some proprietary thing like Bose.

If those 8 jacks on the wall plate are actually binding posts then they probably do go to the ceiling speakers.

What brand and model of receiver do you have? Any chance you could take a picture of the wall plates?

You may need to call the builder or installer to find out what he wired and how. I guess there are no names on any of the wall plates to identify them?Or, you can start tracing the wires with an ohm meter if you know how.
