Not that it'll do you any good now but I ordered mine, (new), from amazon through one of their resellers - importcds - for less than $9. It arrived from California in less than a week.
Since today is "talk like a pirate day" (see steam vent forum):
ARRRRRRRGH!!!!! That's a kick in the barnacles, mate!

Well I just received my Terence Boylan CD titled Boylan, well this looks like a winner with the incredible roster of hotshot studio players on the roster: Jim Gordon, Chuck Rainey, Donald Fagen, Dean Parks, Victor Feldman, Timothy B. Scmidt, David Paich, Michael Porcaro, Don Henley, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Lukather, Michael Omartian and others, this reads like a list of who's who of the LA recording scene in the late 70s. I barely sampled some of the music and I can tell from track 1 "Hey Papa" that this is a solid production. I have to sit and patiently go over this CD track by track. This CD is not one to be listened to casually, Terence Boylan is crafting stories in the vein of the good story tellers (Fagen, Buffet, J. Taylor, Stevens), this requires a sit down session with some port, a dark room, my Krells and my Proceed. This sounds like it might make my top 5 list of fave CDs. I'll post after serious listening.

Thanks to Hawkeye for the recommendation, good stuff.

I've been Binging on The Mars Volta.
I have tried to get into The Mars Volta, but I just can't. Funny thing is, they resemble some bands that I do like (eg King Crimson, Tool, Rush.)

Listening now to the ringing in my ears after seeing Alan Parsons live, Friday and Saturday nights. Great shows, these guys just keep getting tighter. Much fun. Recommended.

Good stuff on Terrence Boylan. Glad you like it.

Alan Parsons is a studio genius, and his albums have always been as much (if not more) about the recording and production as the songs. How on earth does he put on a live show?

It's funny for all the years of the actual "Project" they never toured. One of the reasons was, as you state, how could they ever reproduce, live, what they were doing in the studio? Technology finally evolved to the point where they could easily incorporate recorded samples into their live playing and the core "Project" (minus Woolfson) hit the road in '95 as 'Alan Parsons Live Project.' The Live Project went through some changes and for the last four years or so now consists of Parsons and four relatively unknown but very talented musicians plus LA singer/songwriter PJ Olsson who handles a bulk of the singing. Having seen the current lineup about a dozen times I can tell you if you're an APP fan you're not likely to be disappointed by this lineup, they put on one hell of a show

The sound of silence on a Friday afternoon at the office... and the subtle hum of electronic machines besides. Or is it the air conditioning?

As usual I'm working from home on this Friday afternoon. One perk is I get to listen to some music without headphones like I have to use when I'm in the office. I know I mentioned this instrumental recording before but I think it's worth mentioning again. I'm sure anyone who is a fan of the 70's guitar greats would appreciate this cd. I have to say it's one of my favorite guitar-heavy cds in my collection.

On track 1 every sound you hear was made with guitars.
Track 5 is very reminiscent of something you'd hear on one of Gilmour's solo cds.
Track 10 is called "Cold" even though it really cooks.
But perhaps my favorite track is #8 "Whitefeather" - what a great instrumental!!

Still waiting for PTs Fear of a Blank Planet - DVD-A to arrive, hopefully today. Until then Godfrey Townsend is filling in quite nicely indeed.
