Well I won't Poo Poo the Behringer product here... I really had no intentions on starting a flame war, so If thats where this is going, Please take it elsewhere. I apologize to anyone I have offended, as tons of people are using the EP2500 and are happy with it... which is awesome !!!!

Either way... I have made my decision for the QSC PLX2's whether it be a good call or not... I think I got some great quality amps, and Im sure I will be happy with them for a long time to come....

I can't wait to see pics of your actual build.

You know that you could do four 3" ports instead of one 6" for more tuning options? Or you could do 3-4"ports for even more port area and more tuning options. In any case it should be quite the build.

Will you be veneering the external part of the enclosure with a thin veneer or with actual 1/2" or 1" boards stuck together?

I have added another couple pieces to the mix, the counterparts to my buddies the Dual 15" TC-2000's.... The Powerplants... Dual QSC 2502's bridged, that which will produce an astounding 2500 watts for each driver...

Thanks buddy.... I can't wait to get things started with this... now that winter is on its way, and I will have more inside time to myself... I can get it all going.

My intentions for this build, will be all hardwood, no veneer period...
I have yet to pick out which wood I will be going with, but im still looking.

Build Strategy goes like this....
This is going to be a set of over the top beautiful large endtables...
I am going to be using 3/4" hardwood for all vertical exposed surfaces, so I can finish nicely, 3/4 birch Ply for top and 1.5" Ply (doubled up 3/4) for bottom driver mounting. The Top of the box will then be covered with Granite. These suckers will be heavy. Bracing will be multiple window braces routed, 3/4 ply.

I going to go with a downfiring config, using 2" diameter polished aluminum bar stock for the legs, 6 for each sub, with a bottom plate just like SVS's subs, more then likely constructed out of the same hardwood for the outside of the box, but in 1".

I know I have alot of work to do, but I will plug away, with the end result in mind... tuning will be more then likely set at 16.5hz....
I really didn't want any other tuning options... Gotta run for now...

So your not going to build it out of plywood and then cover the vertical sides with a high quality hardwood?

Personally, I would do an MDF enclosure, and then cover it with the high quality wood. I am not sure how the wood will act as part of an enclosure in your scenario, assuming I am understanding you correctly.

That is correct.... I will be building the front, rear, and sides as a box, and then glueing the bottom driver mount flush with the bottom, and then installing braces and then glueing the top on.... I am shooting for a pretty dense hardwood, not too dense though. If I need to add stuffing for absorption in there after, then I will... Gluing all these hardwood boards together vertically will provide an enormous amount of strength, this enclosure will be far stronger then MDF.
I am ultimately trying to keep the size of the box down somewhat, that would add additional size to the box...

I guess we will all see if this project turns out to be CR@P or not when Im finished... Im sure it will be just fine.... and look pretty too...

Hey Greg - Oh Im sure that these new subs will be worth the effort....

and ultimately, Im also looking down the line and hoping that I could swap out drivers in the future to something more competent like the LMS or whatever comes out in the future... Obviously that would all depend on how a different driver would model (much less fit) in this enclosure, but maybe the more I play around with the numbers, I will increase the size of the cabinet... I guess we will see.... Maybe I will jump up to a 320L box... I have the room to go higher, and it wouldn't have to be all that much in height....

Still have some equipment to aquire, before I pull the trigger on that starters pistol...

That appears to be a lining on the walls, not stuffing. Stuffing the enclosure is not recommended for a ported enclosure. Lining the walls can help to dampen any resonances.

It should make for a solid enclosure. Just be sure that you use a very dense wood. Will you be using 1" thick pieces? If so that should be plently strang along with some good bracing.

I will have to see what I have available to me for wood... I was planning around 3/4" but I believe the wood is avail in 1" thickness, and also have plans on extensive bracing, so I'm sure it will be plenty sturdy...

What do the bracing plans look like? Anything fancy or elaborate? That thing is going to generate some serious pressures inside that enclosure with 2500 watts on tap. Those subs have someting like 2.7" (34mm one way?) of linear peak to peak excursion capability don't they. That is moving a serious amount of air.

For sure buddy... these are going to monsters... Im pretty sure xmax is only 28mm, but either way they will surely be quite monsterous...

I really haven't drawn it out on paper for the bracing, I was just going to start to make it on the fly... probably 3 window braces on the vertical plane and 2 on the horizontal, full top to bottom and front to back... All windows fully routed the way they should be...

I redid the size, and re-tuned it to 14.5 with a 320L box size...

I just got back from the one of the millwork places in town by me..
I think I'll probably end up with Cherry for the outside, as its easier to get, and a bit cheaper.... I believe that I will be into about $1000.00 or a bit over in hardwood alone, for both boxes. With the price of Cherry being somewhat reasonable, I can bump up the thickness up to 1" and the bottom plate in 1". I have a date with a sweet little hottie on tuesday for lunch and to go check out the Granite Graveyard, and see what I can come up with for the tops...

The ideas are finally coming together quite nicely.... Alot of eroneous things to get pulled together for this project...

I also have to meet with my buddy that has a lathe to turn my alluminum for the legs, I have a lathe, but its so old and rickity that I don't trust it for fine detailed craftsmanship stuff... just crude cutting...
