Audioholic Intern
Hi all! So i finally got my system complete. Let me introduce what i've build so far

TV...........Samsung hls61
Receiver....Onkyo 605
Sub..........SVS pbs12

My future speaker is one their way, which is 4 xmtm xseries for main and surround and my center is from them as well so hope it all turn out ok.

But i need some help on recommendation for the little stuff like What gauge of speaker wire should i use or i want to use banana plug.
Does it even make a difference?

Well, like I said, those are "little stuff" but if it helps i would'nt mind using it.
Is there anything else i should add?

14 awg wire is fine for runs up to 50 feet or so but a true adioholic would use 10awg. Dont spend a lot of money on wires and cables use monoprice or bluejeans if you can wait for delivery. I use the Dayton 10 awg from PartsExpress. Banana plugs and spades just make connections easier; Bluejeans locking plugs seem to be the best.

I generally use 12 or 14 AWG cable. Banana Plugs make life a lot easier so I've always used them. I bought everything from Monoprice.

I find the webpage at this link to be quite informative regarding speaker wire gauges.

I have 10-gauge Blue Jeans Cable wires and they are way too big for my amplifier unless I use banana plugs. Oops.:D
So the first key is, how big are those speaker wire posts?
My guess is, you don't even need more than 16-gauge, so 14-gauge is more than enough. It's a safe number.

To me, banana plugs are for convenience, not sound improvement. They are the "middle man" that goes between your speaker wire and the speaker. So unless you have to, I would not get banana plugs. Cut out the "middle man" if you can.
If you have to, buy the LOCKING banana plugs from Blue Jeans Cable. Don't buy those cheap banana plugs from Monoprice and don't buy plain banana plugs. It needs to be LOCKING.

I just removed both of my sinks and replaced them with 2, 18" woofers controlled with 4 bi-amped 10,000 watt servo amps.

I bi-amped my sub into my kitchen sink! My dishes have never been cleaner. :D

You dont think that I have over 1400 posts and only one chicklet because I am full of useful advice do you?

I believe I was even the one to pop your chicklet cherry and that was because one of your posts made me laugh so hard I almost wet myself!

Hey, I just gave you some rep earlier this morning for a helpful post (one of your many).

Don't get me wrong, though...most of your posts are completely worthless. :D

How many more do I need to get a 2nd one and why are we running this guys post?

I can't, remember, you did the homework I gave you and actually helped someone . I gave you some for that!
