Creating a new system, could use some help?

Hello there, so as the title says I'm making a new A/V system.

I have a pair of Paradigm Monitor 9's that my girlfriend of last summer managed to blow on me when I was gone. So, in the absence of a local authorized Paradigm dealer I decided to go and buy some new speakers. Anywho, was doing some E-bay shopping and purchased a pair of Paradigm Studio 100 v4's, along with the CC-690 centre. I also got a Pioneer Elite DV-F07 for my CD's and DVD's.

Now I was using a Yamaha HTR-5850 to power the Monitor 9's, and what I'm worried about right now is will it be enough to power the Studio's? Another question I have is that since I lack surrounds and rears how do you suppose I should configure the system? I will mostly use the system for music, so I'm not particularly concerned with having a complete 5.1 or 7.1 surround system as of yet.

Some other questions:
What should I set speakers to? Large or small? and what about the crossovers?
Unfortunately the room is cramped, and I have the TV set in a corner of the room. Not too mention hardwood floors. I need to get some pictures up so you guys can get a better understanding... Was just hoping for some make-the-best-of-it ideas.
I realize getting an amp would be a good idea, any suggestions? Budget is a concern of mine.

Thanks in advance.

The 100's are going to want some power. Try it with the AVR and see what you think since your room is small but it is likley you will need to add an external amp at some point.

I would just buy some cheap speakers for surrounds for now since movies are not your biggest concern. 5.1 should be plenty and the most important thing in a HT set-up is the center and sub. Since you mainly listen to 2 channel music you should be fine with the speakers set to large and you are not crossing over anything as you dont have a sub.

Thanks Greg, you mention that Crossover isn't important at my end since I don't have a sub yet, and then suddenly I realized again just how little I know about A/V. The 100's have built in bass drivers, so I'm assuming it handles the crossovers for the loud speaker internally? Well in any case, I think this illustrates the point that I need to do some more reading here on this great website.

No problem. You would be getting a lot more responses if you placed your thread in the speaker of general section. Not many people look way down here.

Yes, I posted this same thread in the "Room Acoustics, System Layout & Setup " area and also recieved a few comments. Mostly, I just didn't know where to place this topic since it covers a number of issues. Perhaps I will repost with pictures of the room in the general section, that way perhaps I can garner a few more tips and tricks.

Thanks.
