Just ordered though (Digital Village) a calibration microphone Behringer ECM8000 along with a 6 metre cable XLR, should be with me in the morning so I can use this to (auto celibate) the time arrival distances short long and polarity settings with the DCX2496.

£44.00 pounds isn’t too bad for price.

Well it finally turned up this morning, very pleased:). I’ll do a thorough check out later in the day in the mean time I’m popping off to Winton high street.

Bugger me I forgot the Phantom Menace Power supply unit to power the ECM8000 bugger!

So I’ve just ordered though “digital village” uk a (Behringer TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC100) should be with me on Friday.

£30.00 pounds.

Digital Village has one of the most relaxed calm custom services I’ve come across, nice friendly all round fast service.:)

Do they supply a curve of its response?

http://www.behringer.com/ECM8000/index.cfm?lang=ENG

Click the Specs sheet link. It is in there.

This is also the mic that comes with the Velodyne SMS-1 system.
No kidding hay so it must be good then well I’ll have to wait until Friday before I can use it. it has a specification frequency chart on the side of the box, no user manual well that’s bit odd, well I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

I like the foam that comes with the microphone carrying case. Yes I’d like more of this type of foam please.:D

The ECM8000 does not come with individual response curves. If one wants an exact curve, they must have a calibration file created by sending the microphone into a service center that specializes in this duty. Typically, this model of microphone does not vary more than 1.5 db from flat between 100hz-20khz, and 3db at 20Hz. But there are known [rare] exceptions of substantial deviation.

Hmm, I can’t think of anyone near to test the microphone for accurate aligned calibration. Well I’m not going to lose any sleep over staying up all night with matchsticks holding my eyelids open.:D

I’ll compare it with my other microphone (Soundlab UD236) which I’ve been using for the past 7 years.

Well it’s Friday 21st September and I’m waiting for the delivery guy to turn up with the MIC100 unit so that I can power up the ECM8000 and do some testing.

Well it finely turned up and after reading though the pdf manual this morning to get a basic understanding of the MIC100. After switched on MIC100 and giving a few minutes to warm plugged in the ECM8000 and attached the other XLR lead to the MIC100 and plugged it into the Technics SH-8055 I soon noticed I had to reduce the noise floor.

Once done I played some pink noise and monitored the centre channel first off. The response was pick up was far better than my other microphone after making a few adjustments to the left and right I resumed “Dragnet” (1987) that was playing last night but I got a little restless.

The MIC100 is relatively easy to operate once you get used to its functions.

I’ll go a little further later this afternoon or early evening when things quieten down a little bit, I have the sub bass extension to look at and LFE.1 and surround arrays as well.

Here, is this big enough?
The linked graph blown up for you.
Chris gave specifics in a previous post.
Yes, that is better, thanks. I tried to blow the picture up but it must have been operator error:D

Glad to be of service. I just used Adobe Reader to zoom in to the area then hit print screen and then used paint to cut out everything but what you wanted. You know for future reference.

Yes, of course. ;)

I went back. Must have had a brain block; forgot the toolbar at the top of the page that magnifies, or the right click and its tools:eek: I go for the simple stuff, don't use all the fancy options much and forget them. ;):D
