I've had the Sharp displays on my wish list now for 6 months, but there's one question I have re: the different model numbers out there...the difference in hardware or functions of the 62u vs. 64u vs. 82u series...it seems the 62's are the one's that the prices have been dropping on most consistently but what's the difference in features or updated hardware?-do the 64's or 82's have updated/better "stuff"?
Thanx!
Though the 62 series is still listed on Sharp's website it appears it is being replaced by the 64 series. I got the 52" 62U from Costco on a coupon for $2,200 in September. There was a gold rush on them and none of the Costco's in my area have any left.
Anyway, here's the deal:
-The 62u and 64u have essentially the same specs. The 64u adds a 3rd HDMI port (1.3 vs. 1.2 on the 62u) and also has a VGA port which is apparently NOT capable of 1920 X 1080 (according to CNet). The 64u is also somewhat slimmer.
-All models (62,64,82,92) have 4 ms. response time.
-The 62u, 64u and 82u all have 10K:1 DCR (2K:1 typical).
-The 92U has a DCR of 15K:1 (3K:1 typical).
-The 82u and 92u are 120hz frame rate. The 62u and 64u are 60hz.
