Hi,

I'm trying to get an interconnect cable and am quite abused by the "crap" sometimes said to justify incredible pricing....

where is the truth......

I just found a cable from MIT with a kind of magical electronic device to make this cable the most needed one....

I'm looking for a good interconnect cable without magic powder....

AQ King Cobra ? QED Qunex ? ..... others....

Most cable sellers are selling snake oil at a premium. If you want quality for a good price I would suggest monoprice or bluejeanscables. Both of these places sell good cables, no frills, and are well priced. Going with specific brands is often a waste of money unless you can get insane discounts and even then it will probably be more expensive then the sites listed.

Speaker wire or interconnects? Speaker wire makes very little difference, however crappy interconnects can make a difference in a bad way. No need to spend top dollar for extra fluff though.

I agree, so let me third Bluejeans.

Says the man with AudioQuest interconnects! ;) Just kidding, J, definately go with Blue Jeans, in addition to being great cables, you'll get them insanely fast.

Is the price justified for the difference? What difference? If you mean a sonic difference between expensive and cheap cables, there isn't any. The reason to buy expensive cables involves things like pride of ownership, bragging rights, cosmetic appearance and things like that. Worth it for the difference? That's up to you.

I can justify paying somewhat more for a solidly constructed cable and in. the case of interconnects, better insulation, but the point of diminishing returns is a lot. lot lower than a lot of the advertisements want you to believe.

Blue jeans or monoprice should more than satisfy virtually any sonic needs.

It's not really worth the argument because there are many low cost alternatives to high end cables. My choice would be www.signalcable.com but the aforementioned examples are all low cost alternatives to high end.

I'm going to have to agree with the group. I'm quick to tell people to buy whatever 12 or 14ga speaker wire is cheap, but poor analog interconnects can introduce distortion. Of course there is absolutely no reason to waste money on fancy name brands with a fine supplier like BlueJeans Cables around. That's where I bought my subwoofer cables.

Got my cable.
Very qualitative construction with LC-1 cable and Canare termination.

BJC gives a very quick service also at very good prices. recommended.

Regarding the cable, it was to replace an average Chinese Interconnect (~10 Euros terminated).

Blind test done... honestly... no difference heard but satisfaction to have a very nice cable at very good price.

What I suggest here is to keep cool with cables buys.
Keep your money for the machines. BJC is definitely the good alternative

TendonUSA is also a good alternative. They look good for the price and ship free. Definitely agree that there is no need to spend the money big name manufacturers are asking. It's basically for looks. But why bother when you can get nice looking cables for 1/10th the price?

How does a cable become analytical? :D

This balanced cable excels in neutrality, with ultra low noise floor. It has speed and frequency extension, but without being overly analytical.

This is from a cable seller recommended in this thread.

I'll add another vote for Blue Jeans. I have to confess I own several overpriced Monster interconnects and Monster XP speaker wire but my 3 most recent purchases (1 HDMI, 1 optical and a 5.1 analog set) came from Blue Jeans. I plan to do more business with them in the future as well.

The one Monster product I really like is my power conditioner. It was pretty reasonably priced for what it does.

Another vote for Blue Jeans LC-1. They are incredible for the money. Sad to say, many cables are so overpriced that you think something must be wrong when a new set of 3'/1M RCAs are less than $35 shipped.

These cables are excellent and unless you have an incredible source, an incredible preamp, $5,000 speakers or a high-end headphone setup, you can't improve on them for anything less than Valhalla-level cables. Maybe if you sit there and squint while you try to hear the subtle differences. Otherwise, nope. And who listens like that anyway?

Valhalla is just another way overpriced cable no matter what it is connected to, period.
