What are most useing for their power supply??

I don't think my two Surge Protectors are good or atleast one of them!!:(

Monster makes a device that has four plugins and two for cable wires. It's about $299.00 dollars thoe!!! Do they even work that great?

SO MUCH MONEY!!!

Am I reading this right?

... I'm running an Audio cable (standard coax Red/White) from the back of my TV to a Stereo Front input. The input is for a headphone jack. I went to Radio Shack and purchased this cable, a whopping $6.99!! :p
Correct me if I'm wrong, but headphone jacks tend to be outputs. Sending a line level signal into a headphone jack is a distinctly bad idea.

If this really is an input Are you using any kind of adapter, 1/8" -> 1/4"? Rat Shack cables/connectors, especially the $6.99 variety are not above introducing terrible things into your ears. I'd try getting a better cable.

samsungson,

I probably missed this somewhere, but do you have your DVD player connected directly to your amp section? If so, do you get this hiss when watching a DVD? I'm just wondering if you only get this hiss when listening to audio from the TV.

I don't rarely ever Crank Cable TV up loud but I don't here the Noise when watching TV.

The DVD player is hooked up to the TV and the TV's Audio out is going to the back of the stereo VIA that cable you see in the picture.

Seems to be when useing DVD only. BUT if I have to go check to make sure I will..

samsungson,

I was asking about how the DVD player was hooked up because I was trying to troubleshoot the source of the hiss. At the moment, the source of the hiss could be the DVD player, the TV, or the boombox. Yeah, I'm counting out the cables because I honestly don't think that they have anything to do with this.

Here's some things that I would try (be sure to turn things off before connecting/disconnecting cables):

1. Disconnect the input cable from the boombox, set the input selector to that input (so, the same that you've been using to listen to TV and DVD), and turn up the volume to the point that you normally hear a hiss. If you hear the hiss, then it's the boombox (either the main unit or the speakers) because there's nothing plugged into it.

2. If you don't hear any hiss, plug the cable back in and turn up the volume on the boombox without the TV being on. If you hear a hiss, well, I'll have to think some more about what's causing it, so let us know if that's the case.

3. If you still haven't heard a hiss, connect the patch cable directly to the DVD player (i.e. don't route it through the TV). Play a DVD and turn up the volume on the boombox. If you hear a hiss now, then it's the DVD player.

4. Still no hiss? Well, my friend, the issue has been narrowed down to your TV.

You are using your TV as a signal router, and depending on which audio output that you are using, you are also using it as an amplifier. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the source. I also wouldn't be surprised if the boombox is the cause, as others have mentioned already.

Well, good luck, and please let us know what you find out.

Now days alot of devices come with stereo mini plug inputs for that little rectangular white device we all love to hate. I wish more car makers would catch on and put them on head units. Only NOW are we starting to see that, when we could have used it years ago.

Hey? Let alone trying to get any level of audiophonic quality out of it. I've been following this for four days, thinking it's a really bad joke. But some others have taken it quite seriously, so I'll let them play along without any further interruption from me.

But I still say that the fm tuner hiss is due in large part to the tuner being placed directly atop a non-isolated "amplifier". If others think they have a cure for this guy's woes, so be it...I was born a skeptic.;) Good day to all!

samsungson,

I am not trying to bash your system or anything but have you actually gone out and auditioned speaker systems to justify your wonderful claims about your boombox? It just seems hard pressed that a boombox would match speaker systems that have far more R&D time as well as much higher build quality and just better design in general.

If you actually have you found one hell of a boombox...congrats.

All I have to compare it to are the ones Best Buy and Curcuit City show off.

Voices and Glass breaking are flawless, Crisp and clear and My TWO 6 and a half Woofers thump the room hard at full power ( the subs have three settings ).

Even my Close freinds that have spent 5 to 6 Hundred on great setups for just one woofer and 5 speakers don't compare and that was With the hisss.

Really Honestly I would like to here some good setups to humble myself but if I did that I would probly spend more money :D.

My Father inlaw had a garage sale and was selling some speakers and I got them off of him for dirt cheap. They were 5-Pioneers surround sound Size. I'm useing three of them with my Boom Box / Shelf Top Stereo ( thats really what ones of this size are called ).

I just merged the Wires together!! :)

The Picture is of my main Left and Right Speakers and two subs, And their massive intakes!!!
- Also I don't plan on keeping this room this way. I GOT PLANS YEEHAAAAAA!!!

Is it just me? Why do I think you just got banned, picked up a new name from a different URL, and are now trolling around here?
