I've always meant to post my HT setup here, just never got around to it. Current setup is:
Room size: 15x19x8 = 2280 cubic feet
Receiver: Yamaha HTR-5960
Mains: Polk RT3's
Center: (currently not in use - because it sucks) AR PSC25
Surrounds: AR edge
Sub: Velo VX-10
TV: 36" RCA
DVD: Samsung
DVR: Replay5060
My thoughts:
I really don't like the setup of the speakers on top but where else would they go. 2 little girls rule this room 80% of the day, not sure if the speakers on stands would survive.
I've recently disconnected my center channel and enjoy the sound much more split across my Polk mains. I was surprised to hear more background effects, clearer dialogue and much crisper highs after disconnecting the center - that thing is going on ebay soon with no reserve!
The surrounds could be more enveloping but they still do a reasonable job
The VX-10 is a little small for this size room and port noise is very common when watching movies at reference to -10 db. Since I get to watch a movie that loud about once every 6 months it's not a huge issue.
Future upgrade plans include an LCD TV on the wall with components in the closet, built in shelves for DVD's, a much larger sub (or two), and getting matching 5 channels. I don't think this room lends itself well to 7 channels given the location of the couch along the back wall.
There you have it. Comments are welcome, thanks for looking.
