Subwoofer Eq Suggestions

I just received and installed my first GIK 244 panels this afternoon. I have a huge room that needs probably 10 times that many for perfection, but the change is noticeable with just the two panels behind my entertainment center (one straddling the corner). I think I'm gonna save up for a couple of corner tri-traps to add to the mix. (I may use them as surround stands! )

I wish there was a quick way to A/B this setup...but no.... The panels made a significant difference in my YPAO eq setup, so I know they're doing something. And I think it's good, lol.

I can't say for sure but I believe this is the same one used in Velodyne's SMS-1 EQ system.

I don't see why not, they come with a XLR connection which is all that is needed to hook it up to the SMS-1.

I'll find out in a couple days for sure, just ordered one.

Tomorrow, I have decided you are a bad influence. You are making me want another sub! I was looking on craigslist and found an SVS 16-46CS that I might be able to pick up for 100 bucks. All I will need after that is a good plate amp and then build a nice housing for the amp and I might just have to wait on the BFD.

Who knows I would have to get the sub back from Texas though (visiting the folks next week)

Ewww...

Just got Room EQ Wizard up and running. Calibrated my sound card and installed the proper calibration for my SPL. The graph attatched is the results of the sweep after everything was ready and after I tried a few woofer locations too...

Looks like I need to do some work on the room.

checklist to help you smooth that out short of getting a BFD or sms-1:

mess with the phase.
make sure you are not using the subwoofer crossover, leave the bass management to the receiver.
look for another location (after you've done the first two)

What cd is that? I have rives but it isn't quiet that inclusive.

Autosound 2000, Test CD #101. 209-465-3450. Not sure how current the number is but this will get you close.
They have other test discs too.

I think you will like that BFD and its flexibility on the frequency. You can select fractional frequency, as wide as you want or as narrow as a sheet of paper, all digital domain. It will take time as when you alter one frequency, it affects others in interesting ways and that is the nature or waves and closed spaces.

Thanks for the cd item I'll look into it. I am getting closer and closer to pulling the gun on the BFD I just want to do room treatments first.

It doesn't seem my woofer has the ability to bypass the crossover. Right now I have my woofers crossover set to its max setting (150) and the receiver is set to cross it over at 100 right now. Other than that the only things I can mess with are boundary gain compensation and phase both of which should help my current situation.

Forgot to ask my question and it won't let me edit. Am I in a safe range with my crossover than or is there something else I should look at?

It'll be less localizable if you set it at 80. It'll also put the non-removable xover more than double the xover in the receiver.
