adjusting the equilizer for moves?

hi, i own a denon 3805 reciever. is adjusting the equilizer band, done for only music or movies also? its been awhile since i played around with it and forget everything.

An equalizer is for tailoring the sound to your liking and/or to meet a target response curve (flat, emphasize bass/midrange/treble, etc). There are no right answers per se - it's what you think sounds best in your room.

Be advised however that excessive messing with an EQ can totally destroy the sound.

Movie adjustment

I leave the EQ feature off on my Yamaha receiver. If you want to make an adjustment between music and movies. Try increasing the sub level a few dBs for movies and back down for music.

I have the Denon 3805 and leave it off also. This was recommended in Audioholic's review a couple of years ago. I adjust the sub as JC recommended.

EQs should be used to EQ the room. Once it is set, you should not have to worry about what is played unless you want to remaster each individual source, CD, movie, etc.
Hopefully the mastering studio set their speakers to some EQ curve that is standardized. Certainly THX movies do, one reason for the standard.

If you don't like a CD buy better ones Or, you will be redoing it all the time. But, without instrumentation, you don't know what your room looks like acoustically speaking.
