Cable Basic Training & Connections HELP PLEASE

I am getting my first Home Theater System, and am in the process of getting the cable and connections. I have read a lot but wanted a more honest opinion from people that knew. I am connecting POLK Monitor 30 speakers to a ONKYO TX-SR605 receiver. Since I have no clue I need help. I have heard that the banana plugs were the best way to connect and I wanted to get all AUDIOHOLICS opinion on this. I have seen some nice looking ones on EBAY for a good price GLS Audio Banana Cable Plugs has anybody had any experience with these and the others I have been looking at are the MONSTER QLGMT-H QUICKLOCK BANANA CONNECTORS. My room size is 18 x 16.5 and it is a bedroom. I have been looking at the monster XP cable what are you thoughts? Thanks for all the replys

If the connections to the speakers are all solid with no stray strands touching each other or the metal part of the receiver chassis then there is no audible difference between bare wire, pins, spades or banana plugs.

Banana plugs are the most convenient as they make it easy to connect and disconnect. There are lots of different types of banana plugs - some you crimp, some you have to solder, some with a tiny little set screw, etc. The Monster QuickLock are a nice design that requires no tools and should make a nice tight connection. When I replace my speakers in the near future, I am going to try the Monster QuickLock.

Thats the cable I use for all my speakers and I love it for the simple fact that its cheap and well made which are honestly the main factors you should pay attention to when it comes to speaker cable.
