You have something bigger than the plus2? no way, its taller than my desk. it makes my floor standing speakers look like teeny weeny satelites.

this is sick!

ok i got it down the stairs no prob, very shiny (piano black), im gonna keep it on those rubber cushion things for now.

All i can say is, if your married and your wife allows you to get one of these, and sticks with you after she sees it, that poor girl loves you dearly.

now lets see whats behind it...

someone reply quick, i got the line level output from my pc going into "low level" input on the sub, then "low level" output going to my reciever, ok?

If I followed the thread correctly, then that shouldn't hurt anything. However, if the low level output from the sub isn't affected by the cross-over setting on the sub (as j_garcia pointed out), then you'll still be sending a full range signal to your main speakers unless the adjustable subwoofer output on your receiver actually includes a cross-over setting.

Seems to me that you'd want to feed the line level output from the PC (left/right, correct?) to the receiver and then run a line level subwoofer output from the receiver into the sub and keep your main speakers hooked up as usual. That way you would control the volume of both the main speakers and the sub from the receiver. Hopefully you can set up the cross-over frequency for the sub in the receiver itself.

Ok this is definitely unhealthy. My perception of loudness has become numb. I would never cross 12 o'clock on my amp, but now its as if i cant hear anything at that level even.

i need bigger floor standing speakers and a bigger amp.

passing the full stereo to the sub doesnt sound too bad, as long as its turned up you dont notice it.

i'll figure out this bass line output somehow..

Honestly this is faaaar more than i bargained for, its really really really i cant emphasise that any more, but REALLY powerful.

At the moment its in a smaller room, about 4000 cubic ft, and its death in there, you can actually see the bass waves pass into your clothes, like someone had turned on a fan or something.

i think i'm gonna put this back in the box and buy a new house first!

They should REALLY put a WARNING on this saying "NOT FOR STUPID N00BS WHO THINK THEY KNOW WHAT REAL BASS FEELS LIKE"

the first time I saw the SVS subs was up close at a local retailer. I could not believe the size of the pb12-nsd and to think there's bigger OMG. Your right though, they should come with some extra warning because reading the dimensions it doesn't appear that big:p.

I didn't think the PB-10 was that big either...until it showed up and it was too big to carry the packaging.

Respect goes out to SVS, these guys have the right to call themselves "The Bass Authority"

But to be truthful, this isnt that great with musc, YES the bass is killer but you really need powerful tweeters to keep up, otherwise it sucks.

On the other hand, on Movies!!! this is AMAZING, i played a bit from Terminator 2, god! it was fantastic, it felt like you were in a movie theater.

j_garcia, since you got me in this mess, I might as well go all the way. What do you suggest for Front L&R to pair up with this sub, My Tannoys are great but at 100RMS they dont stand a chance with a 900 RMS sub.

I'll probably need a new amp too, Probably get a fancy Yamaha, cos the Nakamichi is only 120RMS per channel and is a dinosour.

The PB12-plus2 has a higher power-to-wieght ratio than the Bugatti veyron! Now why in the world would anyone be loony enough to "maximise" that.

Its literally a giant vibrator, it just shakes and rattles EVERYTHING in the house.

funny story: My girl friend came and saw it, and the first thing she said was "Ohh its beautiful", (i think she said that cos she could see her reflection on it). :)

So now i need a pair of speakers to better compliment my new earthquake maker. Any suggestions.

How far do you wanna go? You've set the bar pretty high with that killer sub. Personally, the only speakers I've heard that I'd want to pair with that would be the Focal Electra series bookshelves. Time to start auditioning and find something you like in your own budgetary comfort zone.

I might also suggest finding a used 2ch amp on audiogon to power the speakers, maybe a Bryston, Rotel or McIntosh, et. al. or maybe even an Emotiva package, although I have no experience with Emotiva, so it's only a suggestion for further research, not a recommendation.

Anyway, welcome to the slippery slope. Enjoy the ride.

For music, a well setup and integrated sub would only be noticed by it's absence. If your particular taste is more than that, set it the way you like it. I have a Hsu VTF-2 in a fairly big room, ~3000 cf and the "dial" on the back of the sub is at about 8:00. It works just fine for movies too since it is placed near field. For movies with a lot of LFEs, I run the VTF-2 a bit hot. The speakers are all set to small and crossed over at 80Hz.

Enjoy your new sub and tinkering with it to get the sound that is just right for you!

I even go one step further and say the SVS experience is much better than most public theater experiences. At least..... all except for the very best movie theaters. (not your local multi-plex, that's for sure!!) I find that LFE content is lacking and weak in most typical public movie theaters.

PS..... I just returned from Disney World 6 days ago, and woah....... DISNEY KNOWS GOOD SOUND!!!

Naw.... dont wait for SVS to get around to making floorstanding speakers because they've been endlessly pushing back their launch date.

Buy what's on the market today!! Once you've been in this hobby for awhile, you'll see that there's always something new lingering just beyond the horizon.

I have the RX-V2500 (an older pre-hdmi version of the 2700), and I really like it for my HT.

PS.... dont concern yourself over speaker RMS ratings, because that spec means virtually nothing:)
