I just got my Yamaha 661 and now I need to find the best way to connect all of this.

Toshiba 65HM167 1080p DLP ( 3 HDMI inputs)

PS3 (HDMI)
Direct TV HD - DVR (HDMI)
Toshiba HD-A2
Xbox 360 (component video)

Running a 5.1 channel syste with POLK R series (150s and 300s and center w/ BIC sub)

I also have a 5X1 HDMI Switch available and was wondering if I would be able to run it through there with one HDMI into the receiver ( ???????)

I want to continue to use rth HDMI connections is possible and if that is the best solution for both video and sound.:confused::confused:

Log on to the AH home page and select AV University. There is a lot of info about this kind of thing.

Thanks but I have spent abbout 2 days searching for and through this infromation and nowhere can I get a fairly complet answer, only bits and pieces of infromation. hell I checked in w/ Yamaha and they sent a 2 line email that was no %$#&^ help and I had to contact them again. It is amazing all the devices are HDMI and they can. even provide a diabram with multiplke hook ups......who the hell care about hooking up a single device.

The main thing I am trying to finds out is if a switch could be used, run the inputs into it and then to the receiver and on to the TV. If so, would audio be transmirtted or do you need to run audio cables from the device to the receiver.

Or do you connect the device to the switch and on to the Tv, running separate audio line to the receiver.

Or do you use all the receiver connections and the rest connect to the TV. For the TV HDMI connections, do you need to run audio to the receiver?
