The amp of your dreams...what would it be?

This is an easy one for me. Without blinking an eye it would be a McIntosh. The MC402 in particular. Oodles of pure American muscle, 400w per channel (min) to be exact. I just love the history of the company, the technology, and lets not forget those gorgeous blue meters. To my ears the sound is just so sweet & involving that I get goose bumps. Well, like the title says - the amp of your dreams. I've been saving loose change for some time now & maybe in a few more years. Till then I'll just "Dream On"
Bingo! I'd be happy with the MC252 as well.

The ideal amp would be 6 inches tall, lightweight, silent, and remain cool to the touch even when run full out for long periods of time. I believe that will happen sometime in the near future as digital switching amp technology improves.

("sniff, sniff") the tube was so pretty ("sniff"):D
Ha ha,even my bulldog "now" knows not to go near tube amps, she was curious & LICKED a roasting hot KT-88 tube from an amp i had on a 6" high amp stand  she only did it once though:D

Now the bulldog is as bad as my wife,if its got tubes showing she steers clear of it.

I would be quite happy with a Bryston 6B for the front soundstage and either a 3B or 4B for the surrounds. I don't imagine I'd ever need more than that.

the best "dream amps" i have heard, but never back to back or in direct comparison; macintosh 1200, macintosh 501, cary audio 500MB, classe delta & several sim audio amps. however there are several dream amps i would want to hear before making a decision; top of the line mac; krell evolution 600; halcro dm88; mbl 9007 and the classe omega. at this point my dream HT system would be all macintosh amps or all cary 500MB for all channels; & 6 (front, dual center, surrounds, perhaps rear as well) matching floorstanding speakers + 2 subs.
