This YouTube clip is a real sobering, eye opener.
It's 9 minutes long, and worth the look.
It's the celebrated demonstration that Roy Beck has been giving to scores of audiences across the nation, as well as on many TV programs, including C-SPAN.
He entertains and shocks audiences with the population consequences of current U.S. immigration policies.
See Link below.

What is this really about? I think a lot of people are worried about the shift in demographics that is going to take place in the coming decades.

I wonder how long its going to take before they amend the US Constitution to allow foreign born persons to become president. And after that, how long before the name United States is dropped. Our "leaders", media, and interested parties are sowing the seeds of destruction of the American culture, we're being forced into accepting every culture as relevant instead of one culture (American) that encompasses different nationalities, political correctness will be the death of us. Persons illegally entering this country aren't interested in learning the American culture, adapting, learning to speak the language, by and large they're happy making a decent wage, well it takes more than that to make a person an American. It shouldn't be that we have to print government documents bilingually, if that's the case it would have to be done for every language. The condition we're under now is not acceptable and opening the border like a whorehouse will not remedy the situation.

Those arguments sound eerily similar to the prevailing sentiments expressed during the Civil Rights era.

Meh.

-Misleading charts designed to maximize the appearance of a problem. Why is the graph of "growth" with zero at 1970 levels? Because it looks so much worse than than if you simply plot population levels with zero=zero.

-Characterizes immigrants as ONLY taking resources, and completely ignores contributions through work and taxes.

I do agree that the idea that immigration is going to solve solve global poverty is silly, but I don't really know anyone who argues that immigration is going to solve global poverty.

NOT illegal immigration.

He isn't talking about illegal immigration.

He's talking about immigration.

Big difference.

There's nothing wrong with legal immigration, it gives the host country time and the opportunity to organize resources to adapt to a growing population. The problem is when you don't know who is in the country and for what purpose. The civil rights movement had nothing to do with immigration, it was the equalization of rights of a suppressed segment of CITIZENS that due to the color of their skin were being treated unfairly. Once you stop being an American (no matter what color, race or creed) you add to the ever growing fragmentation of our society.

Just what is the definition of an "American?"

The debate over just who is allowed into this country has waged on ever since the inception of this Republic. The Protestants didn't want the Catholics in. The Western Europeans didn't want the Northern Europeans in. Then we wanted to keep out all the Irish. Then came the Yellow Peril. After that it was the Germans. And oh, African Americans had been excluded from mainstream society for the better part of our Republic's history. And let's not forget the Native Americans. And now the South Americans. What to do with them...

he's a moron. how about stopping ILLEGAL immigration first before trying to curb just 1 million LEGAL immigrants.

the LEGAL immigrants pay taxes and thus help the economy (or at least pay for themselves).
the ILLEGAL immigrants take jobs WITHOUT paying taxes.

who do you think is hurting the economy?

political correctness will be the death of us.
You can usually tell the approx age of a person & the wisdom of a person that only comes with age & experience in life, all by the statements they make.

Pretty wise statement strat & one that i whole heartedly agree with, being PC has done unrepairable damage to this country & will be the death of the country as we know it,the USA is well on its way to becoming a 3rd world country & the whole game of PC plays a huge roll.

Not even close.

Question, are you old enough to have experienced any of the real civil rights era first hand ?

The world's largest democracy allowed a foreigner to become almost become the leader of the nation, in fact even though she didn't become the de facto leader, she is still running the show, the fact that a woman and a foreigner via marriage to an Indian citizen can do that goes to show the flexibility and the dynamic nature of the nation.

I guess the bone of contention today in US is that the so-called immigrants don't assimilate into the previously European dominated culture of US of A, guess what they don't have to either, all of them bring their individual packets of culture and eventually they melt in and form something new and more dynamic. You can't tell someone from Asia to melt in with the pre-dominant anglicized culture, its a classic give and take and neither seems to be willing. While living in NYC, I was told it was a melting pot, most understated statement if there ever was any, it was a pot all-right, but every individual retained their colors. So lets talk about assimilation with an open mind of how much one is willing to take the other as well. Immigration trends have changed from the past where pre-dominantly European Christian origin immigrants came in to USA, now its quite different, is US and the existing people there ready for that?

About illegal immigrants, it hurts the legal immigrants way more than anyone else, that guy puts in his toil legally, most likely highly qualified in a wish to make it into the country, pays his taxes and then comes the illegals who takes that all away from him.

This is not designed to be political - but strictly speaking math, it is more likely that the majority of legal immigrants fall under the <50% of wage earners (don't argue the exceptions - we know they exist in force) and thus take out more from local and federal governments in services, credits and monies than they give in.

As for illegal aliens, I believe some/many circumvent the system, but many do pay some kind of taxes through the use of bogus SS cards, etc... But they definitely fall under the lowest income earners and therefore take in much much more than they pay in federal or state taxes. (i.e. they are a major [net] burden on our economy.)

Currently the top 50% of wage earners pay 96.03% of all income taxes.

The definition is rather quite simple: A citizen of the United States of America, who has received such status either through birth right or naturalized citizenry. Anything but that would be resident alien or illegal immigrant.

Immigration is not about exclusion, its about legally coming into a country and applying for citizenship or residency. We can argue back and forth about what was done in previous generations and as always hindsight is 20/20. I'm concerned about the reality of today and the impact that illeagl immigration is having on our society, from healthcare, education, welfare and a host of social ills that wether you like it or not are exacerbated by the growing tide of illegal immigration, common sense is very plain. As for the South Americans, what to do with them? Apply the same laws to all accross the board. It doesn't matter if its the Jamaicans, Haitians, Cubans, or the English if this is a country of laws, we must live by the laws, period no exclusions.

My family came into the US from Europe thru Virginia around 1705 (exact date lost). Guess what? The Americans of the time didn't want us either; a.k.a. American Indians.

I don't like the situation with illegal aliens. I hate that my tax dollars go to supporting those who don't support the system. But I also don't like the idea that some American businessman or farmer is taking advantage of the situation for his own profits.

Agree 110%, if the laws were upheld for EVERYONE (farmer, businessman, corporations, immigrants) the situation would be much different.

I have a whole bunch of Legal mexicans who work for me,they are here on limited work visa's obtained through the efforts & costs of the company i work for,i have total respect for these men, they all work great & learn quickly, they have learned more english than i have learned spanish but i try to keep up,these guys drink in our language, they learn fast & im happy to have them but there is a downside.

Every last guy who works for me lives in poverty conditions, were talking about men who make well over $60,000 a year each & they share 5 or 6 families to a run down house where they pay very little rent, they also share 2 beat up cars between them all, every last red cent they make working here is either saved or sent to Mexico,i know this because we are friends & i talk to them, several of the guys are even building homes in Mexico with the money they make here, ive seen pics of the homes & they are not shacks but nice homes.

Even though these guys are nice people they are killing our economy, they have excellent health care benifits but they have a co pay like the rest of us,they have figured out that by going to public state owned hospitals for all health care they will never have to pay a co pay so they wont use the insurance they have.

The whole point im getting at is the money they make here is not helping to fuel our economy it is being sent out of the country & like it or not they are bleeding our government funded medical system.

Whoa, this is the last place I thought I would see a discussion of this nature.

Two years ago I went with my dad to see his attorney/investment consultant/banker...whatever you wanna call him. When my dad was done talking, I asked him, if you were my age (I was 17 then), where should I put away money so that I can see it grow and be of a decent value when I am 40. He said, "Whatever you do, keep it out of the US, this nation is on it's way to becoming a third world country". I just looked at him for a minute, and he said, "greed and the political correct mindset has completely corrupt this nation and soon we may have to pay the price".

I now know why my dad is investing in foreign markets and different companies.

shame on you guys. those arguments are SO selfish. this is exactly the kind of answers I was awaiting. American society has always been like that. "keep people out cause WE are wealthy. WE don't want any other people in." hey come on. this situation is happening all around the world. here in quebec they had restaurants closed because islamists wanted to do their prayers. I don't mind for people coming from all around the world. The only downside is when those people come here and change all the rules. Otherwise, earth is EVERYONE'S home!!!

btw... this video is a hoax. Whoever didn't see the exageration in it is simply narrowminded. Bush now controls people with fear; terrorism. This is exactly the same thing. People are budging into it cuz the congressman SEEMED to have good knowledge about this. What about me doing the same thing by telling that you should divide your country in two by bringing silly and exaggerated arguments. This isn't about money... it's about humanity! I want the most people to be able to profit from the same good system and education than me. If they feel the american system is the best that fits them... let 'em come that's it! Stop crying about apocalyps

I'm sure you guys all have good arguments but please be respectful for people all around the world. I'm talking about the same respect immigrants should have for the american society. It goes two ways.

I hope I didn't offend anybody. I don't mean to start a war here... only my pov.

And this from a person who lives in a separatist province in Canada.

Well, duh! That's what the majoritity of Americas' people complain about, too. Everyone wants their own languagge on everything here. Hell, you won't even speak English like the rest of your country, ferchrissake.

Otherwise, earth is EVERYONE'S home!!!
Yeah, as long as they play by your rules, right?

I hope I didn't offend anybody.
Nah, we just take it fron the source.
