I've got a Denon AVR-686 in there, with a 26" LCD and HD cable box. Funny thing is that I find myself listening to music in there more than watching TV as intended. As noted, the Hsu under-performs for music. This thread got me thinking about what to do about that, so I pondered on it for about a week before I hijacked it.
I'd like to find a set of bookshelves to integrate into the system, but I don't want to throw a lot of money at it. I have a set of Athena AS-B1.2's that I've tried as L/R speakers, but it's not a great solution. I'd like something better than the Athenas and I'm looking used to keep the price down. I'm guessing that the NHTs are better than the Athenas. Please agree or disagree because I don't know for sure.
Well that is all subjective of course.

I am not trying to force a sale or make false acusations about the NHTs to get you to buy them, I will be completely honest. The Athenas you mentioned are a very nice speaker for the money, I rather enjoyed the sound of the slightly more solidly built AS-B1. It has a softer sound and is more efficient. It is also easy for most any amplifier to drive. The NHTs are larger, but the enclosure design (sealed) limits extension, and they are bright as well. They don't sound harsh to my ears, but they are bright.
Another thing to consider, one of the speakers has some cosmetic damage, a ding or dent on the front side. The speaker took a tumble off a shelf at a local hi-fi store and has some knicks. The speakers look very nice and perform perfect otherwise. They are a solid constructed speaker, the cabinet passes the knuckle wrap test with flying colors.
