OK, I gave in and bought a DVD player.

I've been asking about that 2000 vintage Philips DVD player lately, trying to determine if it's digital output would be sufficient for my audio needs or if I should get something newer. Well I broke down and bought one today, a Denon 1930ci, because I'm mostly an audio guy with a limited budget and I want to play some DVD-audio and SACD disks. I found a referb for $220 to keep the cost low and it should be here in a few days. So how did I do? Does anyone here have one and how's it working out for you?

Its a good little player. How are you running the signal to the processor/ receiver? Specifically, are you using Analog or Digital?

My current (old) Philips DVD 941 is hooked up via the digital coax so I assume I'll be doing the same with the new Denon when it arrives. Although both it and my RX-V659 are supposed to have good DACs so I'll probably eventually try both and see which sounds better, if any. It was a toss up there for a while between the Denon 1930 and Oppo 970 as there arent that many DVD-Audio and SACD players in the under $300 area. But when I saw that I could get the Denon for just a little more ($72) I figured I go with the older name and higher original price with Burr-Brown DAC's. If it someday gets relegated to a lesser receiver they will come in handy.
