Has anyone given it a try? And if so what were your thoughts. Did you use 2 identical amps (vertical) or two different amps (horizontal). Did you use an external active crossover & bypass the speakers passive crossover? In the end was it worth the expense & the trouble. Just toying with the idea. I've read many positive comments & a few negatives. Thanks

i've tried passive bi-amping. I did not hear a difference whatsoever.

I can't call it horizontal or vertical because it was a multichannel amplifier 100wpc x 7 (Rotel RMB1077) am using the 4 channels for the two front speakers.

I have also done this. I did notice a difference, but only at extreme levels. I had my Carver at the time as well as a working M&K MX-100. I was watching Resident Evil: Apocalypse one day and was pushing the amplifier and sub to extreme levels. The subwoofers amplifier couldn't take it, the I.C. blew. The Carver shut off and then turned back on after a few seconds.

The good news, the M&K is going to be completely fixed in a couple of days, Woot!:D

I passive Bi-Amp my left and right mains.
I have not noticed much difference between Bi-amp and single amp to each speaker. I use an Outlaw Model 770 7 channel amp.
I do it to mainly use all the amps channels. It would be impossible for me to do an A to B comparison.
I think that with some speakers that require a lot of power, ie that dip down below 4 ohm impedence, you would notice an improvement the Bi-Amp configuration. Unless your using a very powerfull amp to begin with.

i bi amped my PSB T45's(they have dual posts) with the Pioneer TSX82. this 7.1 AVR allows the rear channels to be used as additional power for the 2 fronts, and i did find a difference. they werent louder but i found they sounded fuller, with better bass.

but this may be of no use as it sounds like you have a much more complex sound system.

Just done it with Paradigm Ref 100 v2's

Just in the last few days I bi-amped my Paradigm Reference 100's with 4 Marantz MA-700 monoblocks. I'd say it made a big improvement in imaging and overall sound quality. Other advantage is I can now control tweeter/woofer levels.

Over the last couple of years I've gone from 100wpc to 200wpc with 1 monoblock to the bi-amp solution. Bi-wiring made little or no difference, bi-amping the most..
