Hi Ho

Hi Ho

I noticed that there now appears to be a time limit on this forum for editing posts. What exactly is the reason for this? I have encountered this on other forums but have never really figured out the reason for it. I am very picky about my grammar and I often see mistakes after posting and I like to fix them. The limit seems to be rather short, less than 20 minutes. I want to change a photo linked to in one of my posts because I found a better one but I can't.

As a mod on other forums that allow editing, I've seen cases where users go back and edit posts in a thread well after the thread has died to dramatically alter the flow of conversation after the fact (and under the radar) or to simply remove all of their posts.

It can be a real PITA, and I cannot begrudge the admins for the change.

Well, maybe just a little more time to edit would be nice at least. I don't have a problem with the policy at all.

Hi Ho asked why you can't edit after a given period of time. I provided a link which answered the question. Ergo; I helped Hi Ho. :)
Oh, I thought you where implying that there was help on the way in the future concerning editing posts or some such thing.:D

I see the reason now and I have no problem with it. The time limit here, however, seems to be a bit short. At least an hour would be nice.

I think at least one day would be a better limit. That is enough time for a typical thread to run its course.

Like Hi Ho I occasionally notice grammar errors that I didn't catch and like to fix them but even more importantly, sometimes you inadvertently write incorrect information and don't catch it right away. As an example my brain was on vacation and I wrote that pure black was RGB 255 255 255 and pure white is RGB 0 0 0 when in reality it is the opposite. It's nice to be able to catch those silly mistakes and fix them before you have to explain in a new post 'my bad, I meant this...'.

Heck, I couldn't edit a post within two minutes after making it. Wit hmy careless spelling, there goes my reputation here.
