Buckeye ... that is actually a panel. I did have a second center speaker mounted on top of the TV and placed the panel there for that reason, the second center didn't seem to make that much of a difference so I removed it but left the panel to put the B.B. and SRV pictures in proportion with the TV simply for aesthetics.

The single center is below the TV so are you saying to try another panel directly behind the TV and below the panel already in place? I was going to place a panel on the ceiling but the ceiling is just too low as it is to have another two inches hanging.

I was considering painting the wall plates the same as the wall, I didn't think about painting them black though.

I remember your 2nd center speaker from your old photo, and I couldn't tell if that was the speaker, or a panel, or both in the new picture.
Even with no speaker on top, that is still an excellent position for a front-wall panel. I really do like your red/black theme up front. I guess it only figures that I'd like it, because I did my entire room in red/black:D

I'd try a panel along the bottom behind your center speaker, but not if it means removing and lowering the panel top-center. If you have an extra panel laying around, then yes.... I'd definitely place one bottom center laying horizontally in the back. The backing of your TV stand will diminish it's effect on the center channel, but the bass trapping effect alone will be help. If there is room behind your TV stand, pull the bottom of the panel away from the wall a little to create an air-gap so it's leaning back against the wall.

PS... I think the black plates will look excellent on the front wall.

My hats off to you sir.

One of the best home theater setups I have seen on this forum.

The speaker placements are almost perfect and I really like your subwoofer location. I also like the fact that all of the components and wiring is out of sight and neatly positioned elsewhere.

Not to mention the great equipment selection and interior design.

Great job!!!!

Buckeye ... man it is very nice the way that back wall just fades away whenever the lights are dimmed down! I've tried all of the panels but I believe due to the window on the left and the media storage on the right I am getting a lot of deflection of sound and just couldn't tell much different with them in place ... the bass traps on the other hand, I can tell quite a difference.

FGF ... The floor to ceiling bass traps are the GIK Tri-Traps, I had to cut and modify a pair to make them fit on top of each other. As mentioned above I did try and still have four panels but just couldn't tell much of a difference, with either my ears or the graph.

Here's just one more picture I'd like to share (then I'll quit!). This is the view from the driver's seat, David Gilmour with his Fender in the Pink Floyd's 'P.U.L.S.E.' DVD ... the bass on 'Learning To Fly' and 'Sorrow' is phenomenal!

wow what a great looking room!! Makes me want to start over on my own. ;)

I have a question for you. I was showing my fiancee your pics of the theater and she loves it. She wants to know if you will tell me the paint color and brand of the tan looking paint. We are repainting our living room and she wants that tan color. Can you help me? I have to keep her happy so I can do my home theater. :) My email is selkec@yahoo.com if you can get back to me I would greatly appreciate it.

How hard was it to modify the Tri-traps? I would like to stack mine but they are about 3" to tall when stacked currently.

Wow, works been busy and I haven't had a chance to get on the PC much but anyway....

The gold paint is Sherwin-Williams #6388 'Golden Fleece' interior matte *but* to me this particular interior matte has too much of a sheen for an HT type setup so I'd probably make sure the folks at Sherwin-Williams mixes up the most flat possible for this color. Also I believe the paint was $40 or so per gallon so I'd probably try to find a similar 'like' color that's a little less expensive, like a dummy I didn't inquire the price beforehand and whenever the associate said that will be 88 bucks for the two gallons I got a lump in my throat "...88 dollars, as in 12 bucks shy of a hundred for two gallons of interior paint??" 'Yes sir, that's correct'

The burgundy is actually from Home Depot and about half the cost, it's the Valspar Signature Colors 'Cabin Red' interior matte finish.

Cutting the two Tri-Traps to make the fit wasn't difficult at all, if you remove the staples holding the cloth you can 'undress' the Tri-Trap(s) and then use whatever method you prefer to make the cut (box cutter, small handsaw and a long serrated knife in my case), leaving enough of the cloth material to recover the end and staple it back....I believe they look a whole heap better as full corner traps and the sound is extremely good.

If there was but one room acoustic addition I'd do, it would certainly be the bass traps.

Since these photos were taken I did add another panel behind the TV and center channel, I placed it on the floor just as Buckeye_Nut suggested and I must say that single panel really made the center speaker come to life...to the point that I was very surprised and also it fills the gap behind the center channel making for a much better visual appearance.

This old screened-room/turned TV/music room sure has been a hoot over the past year, I would have never expected it to come as well as it did considering all of the alcohol influenced changes that were done along the way ... but I ain't quitin' my daytime job for a nail apron just yet. ;)

I know Ax-man cut his, but give me a call and lets see what you have going on. I would think if you are not careful you could really mess it up.
I am going to be out of town today (Friday) at about 1:30, but will be in the office all day on Monday.

Rick,

Beautiful setup and I especially like the built in storage and glass blocks. Nice touch taking the bass traps to the ceiling, they look like they belong instead of an after thought like many panels can look.

How's the EP600 working so close to the sofa? I had the opportunity to listen to a HT with the EP600 just to the left of the sofa, almost touching it, and thought it was too close. The demo I heard was War of the Worlds and I thought the house was going to fall apart. That sub rocks. :D

Since he's got his new JVC AVR, he's been known as "The Bose Blaster"...
Needless to say I'm talking about the AVR, though:D:D
