Guys;

I've noticed over the last couple of months our forum traffic has surged and most of it is coming from China. Have we been having a spam problem or did the Chinese somehow get interested in Audioholics forum? Would love some feedback on this from our regulars. thanks

I haven't noticed any surge in spam lately. Maybe it's Chinese bots scouring data to feed AI data sets? Or maybe Chinese users have discovered the deonair charisma, supreme knowledge, and sage-like wisdom of the forum regulars? It's hard to say, but I am leaning toward the latter explanation.

Gene, I hope you're collecting the appropriate 'tariff' from them....... :eek: ;)

I don't think we would lose much, if anything, if we block all commie countries' traffic.

Or maybe the Chinese audiophiles starting thinking harder about their choices? Lots of audiophilia there....

They're checking to see site metrics and content to see if dumping bots on us again is going to get them anything.

Or, maybe there is a new generation interested in music. Who knows? For sure there is in film, as the highest grossing animated film in recent years is Chinese. *edited Zootopia 2 almost matched it recently; did not realize that.

Whatever you have done to block, it has been working.

Can you enable 2FA on logins? Not that I want that, but looks like Bots are winning lol

We could and should block traffic from China. Cloudflare might do the trick.

200+ spam messages overnight.

Several of the other forums I'm on uses XenForo or Foro and that's shown at the bottom of each page- very rare to see spam at all and never this bad. Another uses CloudFlare.

Overnight here, daylight there. :D :D :D :mad:

It's crazy what I saw just now, page after page. And 2 spam post on this page today.

Looks like all cleared up. What a job to clean it. Great job.

I do not see the point of that spam from China. I can't see they have any merit, and nobody would click on those links or do business withem. It looks to me as if they are just vile naissance criminals from a pretty vile country, we should never have become dependent on.

It provides an obstacle to normal operation and they don't care about the level of the entity that's disrupted, as long as they can be an annoyance. They have hacked ever level in the country, bottom to top levels of the Federal government. If we give access to the network, it's a sure thing that they'll hack it. Too bad it's so easy to use VPNs and skip around the planet in order to make tracing the routes difficult.

They are just a vile lot. I really try hard to avoid Chinese products. I have very few.
