At 12' you are right in the area where a standard high quality cable, may or may not work or give less than optimal results.
So, to play it safe, I would recommend an active HDMI cable, like those form Ruipro. If you don't have an HDMI 2.3 port you will need a voltage inserter to power the cable, otherwise you will blow your HDMI board. Standard HDMI ports only provide 30 ma but 2.3 ports will provide 300 ma.
The issue to consider is that if you use a standard 12' HDMI cable you will always wonder if the picture would be improved with an active cable.
Some have reported improved picture using active cables in lengths below 12'.
