Need amp for NST SW3s

I'm a little confused between the SW3s and SW3p, but I have the S version. It is passive, and the SWp apparently had an amp that matched it with custom crossovers and such to work together. The recommended amp is the SA-3, and the only one I see listed online is around $400. It outputs 250 watts, so quite a bit. Hoping to find something in the $200 range that would have enough power and have the ability to set crossover and such, since the sub is passive and has no onboard controls. Any thoughts?

What is your system? If you are driving this sub from a receiver, then any 250 watt amp into 6 ohms, or more will do the job. Both AVRs and AVPs have crossovers. If your driving unit does not have a crossover, then you will need an external active crossover or a plate amp that has a crossover. If you use a plate amp, then you will have to cut the right sized hole in the sub to take the plate amp.

You mean NHT rather than NST? Under $200 for an amp could be tough, but depends how much power you want. Maybe something like a Fosi V3.

Makes sense. I'm not sure what my use will be for it. I have a few setups. 1)Home Theater that has good speakers (Atlantic Technology 8200e) with a modified infinite baffle woofer I built 20 years ago with help from this site. (4) 15" woofers powered by a Behringer 2500 with EW using the Feedback Destroyer Pro. It's great. At one time I had a microphone and software and I he cute it the best I could and it sounds good and will play bass that I definitely can't hear but only feel. However, since then I haven't done much with anything and I'm still using a Sherwood Newcastle from that era. I got busy doing kids and work and all that other stuff and kind of let the hobby go. But now I have a little more time I want to try to get a good sound system and upgrade some of my equipment for music listening. The theater is probably fine, and I'm not sure this would even do anything for the home theater, but more Bass done properly couldn't be bad, right? lol.
I would like to and have been starting to try and improve my music system. Currently using some Energy RC 70's in a large room with using a sealed sub from Earthquake. It is a mixed setup I use for my 80" TV, and the sub is probably better suited for music. My new wife is more open to me spending some time, money and effort on tinkering and building a system my love. My guess is that the sub would be much better suited to this multi-use room. I may try to set up a sound room since the kids have moved out and I have an extra bedroom just doing nothing. My thought was to make a room dedicated to music with possibly a few different systems in it that I can listen to on different occasions. So I don't really have a lot of direction about my future system, so I wanted to get a more inexpensive and still decent that I could get this sub up and running to make sure it even works. The Behringer 2500 isn't easy to get to so disconnecting it and using it to try to sub would be a little bit of a pain. It's in a closed shelf with no access to the back, which was a bad design, but my only option at the time. So after all that, I wanted to get this sub running, see what it sounds like, and see if I could utilize it in one of the rooms. I've been looking to Demo some B&W 805's, maybe some Theil 202, or some other speakers that I would have to pick up used and probably spend a few thousand on them. I don't have that much money yet. Not sure if that helps you or not. I know specifics would help and I'm being somewhat vague so my apologies for that. I remember this for him being so helpful and I also remember it's one of the great places where smart people ask good questions. So I appreciate that. I'm looking later today at an older SVS PC 2000 listed locally for 450. I know there are better models out there, but I'm just pointing that out to say at this point I'm just kind of shopping and tinkering. I've only heard a few systems in my life that really blew me away, and they were all very expensive setups. When was an rbh demo, and another set of speakers wasn't a guy's room I don't remember the brand, but they were about 10,000 a pair. At this point I still can't afford to go that I, so I'm looking to get as close as I can to something that I enjoy and gives me a wow factor. I'm another thread I posted about looking for a subwoofer amp for this subwoofer that looks homemade. It's a table basically come on with a 15 in melodyne subwoofer in it. Going to get that set up and see how it sounds as well but need an amp for that too. So it's very possible I can get one amp to test them both out

I found a used QSC 1400 watt RMX 1450 Power Amp for $350 near me. Looks similar to what my Behringer 2500 is. More than enough power. Any pros or cons you would add? Ya, it's over my 200 budget, but I could probably talk the process down to 300.
