I saw a report about troops possibly going to Boston because of the Mayor and they mentioned that Boston had 17 homicides in the first half of 2025 and the first link agrees- living in the Milwaukee area, that number is unreal and so far, this year has seen 79. It's a 13% increase, but way down from the ~224 in 2022. Since 2014, Milwaukee has only had two years with double digit murders.

Sanctuary cities aren't doing anything about protests and some departments are too short-staffed to handle protests AND the daily crap. In Milwaukee, the department is very short staffed, partly because they aren't finding many new/good recruits and because the department has lost so many officers due to retirement, leaving because they're tired of being shot at (I know one who was shot at three times in one week) and other reasons, they need help. The crime is spreading out to all of the surropunding areas and they already handle overlapping crimes through Mutual Aid but when protests and other large events are added, like the street/highway takeover by motorcyclists yesterday, the departments are stretched thin. Fortunately, MKE hasn't had a lot of large scale protests but they can't be everywhere.

During the Milwaukee riot in the late-'60s, the National Guard came to the city to maintain peace and it was over in thre days. Don't want any kind of police state, but much of the world uses the military to prevent/handle problems at places where large groups accumulate and it seems to work.

I have been studying politics for many years, voted for Reagan in 1980 and am an independent. But except for Millard Fillmore, who was pretty bad, Warren G. Harding and his Teapot Dome problem - really bad, Nixon and Watergate - awfully bad, but trump………….light years ahead of these guys on the awful to horrible scale. It seems every day he breaks laws between 5 to a dozen times and the republicans do nothing about it. America is disintegrating before our eyes and if nothing changes in the 2026 elections this will become a vast wasteland.
