Semi-short sighted? This administration's idiot policies causing problems for EVs because they are all about oil and coal isn't going to last long IMHO.

At the same time, I don't mind them doing development on V8s. Corvette isn't a Corvette without that LS.
lets be honest here, for starters the previous admin was clearly pushing the cart in front of the horse. Widespread use and acceptance of EV's makes little sense without a competent infrastructure in place.

As for 'Corvette isn't a Corvette without an LS', my '67 begs to differ ;) ............

Without a V8 :D I meant in the context of them building new models.

Took the car for the longest distance so far. Monterey, which is 90mi one way. Arrived there with enough charge to come back despite a fair amount of traffic for the holiday, but had the hotel throw it on their charger. Seems some of these smaller towns, despite the number of EVs that are traveling there, are not equipped with enough chargers. There was literally only one fast charger on the peninsula. If I had come from farther, it could have been an issue. But the trip was fully uneventful with the car.

I took my modified Surron (72V42ah NAB batttery, Torp TC500 controller) out for a longer, higher elevation, longer round trip ride today. Still made it home after 30 miles and over 4000' of elevation gain with 50% battery....did just use a moderate 15-20 mph for the long stretches of fairly flat pavement as well as the dirt climb for the most part.

Can it regenerate going downhill?

Yes, my controller allows for both brake lever and throttle-off regen (with separate levels settings for each type). Doesn't really add a lot back to the battery....at the top of the climb I was somewhere around low sixty percent on voltage, and after mostly descending for 3000' ft (some climbing/flats but not much)....was 66% IIRC....so nice to not have it cost, but not an expectation of huge gain back

I don't know much about E-Bikes but that sounds might good ?
It's a light e-moto, not an e-bike (no pedaling). For what it is its a good range. I could get a higher capacity battery (like 57ah instead of 42) which would increase range some (but additional weight and taller needing more modification for a battery cap). Lots of options, just depends on what you want. Higher voltage batteries are becoming more common (my bike was base 60V, moved up to a controller that could handle 72V batteries, but now you'd probably want a controller capable of 81V or higher batteries for this type of bike. Some bikes like the Stark Varg are king of the type right now, with nominal 360V, others 96-104V range out there as well. Lots of choice and with some bikes a lot of aftermarket modifications available in terms of battery/controller/motor.
