It certainly is and a powerful one at that in its symbolism. However the king's speech will actually be the government's speech. By tradition, protocol and precedent, the King will give the speech written for him by the government of the day, even though it is called the King's speech.

I saw that. It was under similar circumstances also. Their Liberal Party - which is actually the conservative one - was riding high in the polls, but still lost to the Labour Party.

while I chuckled at your post, lets face it, Carney is in 'because of Trump', his predecessor, Trudeau was a bag of donuts.......

The "conservative" / Temu Trump party didn't just lose, it was a landslide, the Labor party won by the largest majority in living memory.

Thats very easy to do for Carney. I met him at a Bank of Canada function while working there. He's a very sincere person and I enjoyed working there whike he was Govenor there. The other thing I picked up from Carney is that he's sharp as a whip ahd would have no problem making Trump look stupid but disguising it as a compliment. Carney knows that this would not benefit Canada so he's likely to keep is sarcastic wit in check.
