Isn't energy nationalized in Canada?
Some electrical power is generated and distributed by crown corporations, some by private corporations. Oil, natural gas and coal are all produced and refined and distributed by private corporations. Whether publicly or privately produced and distributed, exports can be taxed or stopped, as government sees fit.

Seriously, I have no life.
The Trump administration signaled a vulnerability by setting the tariff on energy imports at 10%, with 25% on all other goods. If I was Doug Ford, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to open the breakers. We should keep some powder dry and just set an export tariff of 15% on energy first and see how that goes.
Ok, I will let you throttle up that tariff then. You convinced me. :D

Hmmmm... I'm wondering if history is going to repeat itself with Trump aka John Kennedy. John Kennedy was mourned. I can't see anyone mourning that asshole should it ever happen. What I could see happening is world wide jubilation.

Well, he does have a core base, no matter what, that will mourn and attend his funeral.
Don't forget, cult leaders have superpower over some members to the point of suicide.

Does 'government' need to be 'the governing body' or can one person stop it?

74,223,975 US citizens voted for vladimir putin the last US election
How can 75M people be brain dead?
Anger. The temperature is too high right now. At this stage, the best thing we could really do is work on problems we agree on in a halfway constructive manner, and hope for a cascade effect that makes people across the country less miserable. People tend to be a lot more reasonable when their bellies are full and they aren’t about to get thrown out on the street.

Cutting off oil is Canada's nuclear option. What would it mean if it happens? | CBC News

The withholding or tariffing of Canadian resource exports, on the other hand, has the potential to cause real, generalized discomfort to the U.S. — albeit at great cost to Canada as well.

"The idea of the threat is hopefully going to do most of the heavy lifting," said Sanjay Jeram, senior lecturer of political science at Simon Fraser University.

"It's not as if it can't happen — that we can't impose either some sort of export tariff on oil and gas to raise the cost, or some kind of outright ban," he told CBC News. "That could be done by the federal government alone. The Constitution does have ways of permitting that."
I don't think it would be up to one person. The Prime Minister and his cabinet (who are all elected members of parliament) form the executive branch. Such decisions are not going to be made by one person, i.e. the PM. Same goes for provinces and the premiers. But, bottom line is that it would not require legislation.

Oh Trump is/was the embodiment of what they like: rage. Goes back to the shock jocks (Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc). There's a fairly consistent theme of this IMO. "A$$hole Nation" book is another example that's not too far off. But how do you listen to him? I keep thinking for breakfast he has a cup of sand poured on his gravel.

Hell, supposedly 81 million voted for Biden in '20, then 4 years later how many voted for Trump ?

See, Russia doesn't have the market cornered on brain dead voters ........

I remember assuming Trump was finished after saying he liked soldiers who didn’t get captured, in reference to John McCain. What kind of Republican disrespects military service??? I’m not saying the now late senator was a saint, or that he single-handedly conquered North Vietnam, but the man served in a way that Trump never would. After that, precious little really surprised me.

Being disaffected and angry is basically the path to the dark side. That’s how you get Hamas, Ayatollahs, etc. If we were friendly with Iran, and their people were prosperous, I doubt their current system of government would be able to survive. Just my take on things though.

If I remember right Trump didn't fly the flag cause he was so bothered by McCain's comments about him.

That's what I thought- I can't imagine the cabinet would be interested in legging someone going rogue and shutting off power when the decision to sell it wasn't a one-person decision.

Ironic that this was called the 'nuclear decision' since Three Mile Island is reopening.
