Your cup? runneth over. "For a few dollars more" Hire your loser sister-in-law tax write-off.lololI can’t believe “Wicked” has such high ratings. For all we know, it might even win some Oscars.
I guess it’s just not our cup of tea.![]()
Haven't watched this, first time hearing of this movie. From reading the few comments I'll take a pass on this one. Seems like typical money squeeze. My little lady has seen the play and she said it is significantly changed. This is clearly in order to stretch it into 2 films, which was completely for one purpose: to squeeze money out of consumers. I actually though Ariana Grande's non-singing performance was pretty entertaining, but the film is not about her character, which this first film could very easily make you think. It missed the mark big time.
Lots of nominations, but almost no wins at the Golden Globes. The one thing it did win was some new made up category that seemed to be for "big" movies that basically did well in the box office.I can’t believe “Wicked” has such high ratings. For all we know, it might even win some Oscars.

I saw that as well. What a stupid category. To me, that award seems to go to the movie that overperformed at the box office, that wasn't supposed to. "oh look, Wicked actually made money at the box office. Let's give them an award!"Lots of nominations, but almost no wins at the Golden Globes. I had the DTS Se7en disc and the audio was very good. It was in the batch of DVD/BDs that were stolen years back, so I will likely pick this one up.Seven 4k Disc
PQ- Wow, just wow. The 4k remaster of this movie is excellent. I think the opening shot had the most grain on it, but from there, it was just a very light level all throughout. It almost looked like this movie was shot recently. Don't go into it looking for beautiful DV/HDR levels of color. The movie is very dark. I'm guessing everyone on this thread has seen Seven, so you know what the picture looks like. I had heard they scanned the movie at 8k, then took it down to 4k. The work on this transfer was well done. Definitely worth the wait.
SQ- Nothing to write home about. They did a lossless 5.1 mix. I guess the blu ray had a 7.1 mix. So they downscaled it. Personally, it doesn't bother me one way or the other. This is a big talking movie with almost no "action" scenes. So you don't need a full Atmos type sound mix for this one. Why they decided on the downmix? I have no idea. Most everything is front loaded anyways. At the very end is probably the only time I heard something significant hit the back channels. It was the helicopter flying away. Besides that, there is nothing significant going on in the back channels.
Overall- Seven is one of my all time favorites. It's a perfect 10/10 movie. Fincher is one of my favorite directors. The combination of Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as two detectives and getting Kevin Spacey to play John Doe, we just brilliant. I would put Seven as one of the greatest crime thrillers of all time. If you are a fan of this movie, you need to own this 4k.![]()

I didn't "like" the movie, but it was some good old "check brain at door and laugh" kind of fun. For sure, dumb story, but good visuals and moderately entertaining. The one review I saw that I thought was hilarious said "I found myself laughing a lot, but not at things the film meant to be funny..."Kraven The Hunter 2024 4K ATMOS. It's an action movie about Mutants (Marvel's).
Video. Shot on 4K Digital Arri Alexa cameras, so looks great.
Sound. I can't remember many ATMOS sound effects, so kind of typical of most Marvel movies. But overall not distracting. Just nothing to brag about here.
Story- I think I liked it. Although it's probably on the dumb-side.Kind of typical action movie. Could have been worse. So overall, I think I liked it.

I will check out Kraven on streaming. I feel like that's where it was meant to go.![]()
It felt like a popcorn flick to me. We saw it in the theater. Entertaining, but not great. Practically follows the same story arc but with characters that are less interesting.Gladiator II 2024 4K ATMOS.
Video. Looks great. Shot on 4K Arri Alexa digital camera.
Sound. Overall good sound. I don't recall much overhead ATMOS sound effects, but overall solid. Nothing distracting.
Story. Overall I like it, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the first Gladiator movie. The first Gladiator movie is serious drama worthy of Best Picture, Best Actor. The 2nd Gladiator movie is kind of a joke in comparison. But it's better than nothing, so I overall I like it.![]()
Probably would have been much better if they had gotten all supernatural and brought in all the Greek gods and bring back Maximus. It felt like a popcorn flick to me. We saw it in the theater. Entertaining, but not great. Practically follows the same story arc but with characters that are less interesting.
I haven't watched them in a while and was considering picking them up, but now I may wait until they are on sale.Kill Bill 1&2 4k Disc
PQ- Disappointing. That's the word I would use to describe the picture quality for these 4k transfers. KB1 being the worst. The picture is maybe a smidge better than blu ray, only because they added HDR. So, the colors do get a little pop, but the overall picture itself has blotches and smudges. It doesn't look like they did anything to upgrade the picture. These movies are from a 2kDI. Which to me, are the worst kind of 4k upgrades. If you want to call them that. They didn't even use the original film scan. These were approved by Tarantino. So that's disappointing that this is what he's calling "good" 4k transfer. KB2 looks better overall. I'm not sure why, they were both shot on film but both were 2kDI's. Closeup's in the 2nd one looked really good. Better lighting I suppose. Overall picture score I'm giving a 5/10.
SQ- Both movies have the original lossless 5.1 mix. They sound great! That's probably the best technical thing about these 4k discs. Dialogue is easy to hear, action scenes have plenty of sound going on around. In the second movie, when they bury the bride, you can hear the dirt flying in from over top. It's pretty cool. Overall sound score I will give an 8/10.
Overall- The actual movies themselves are a fun watch. They aren't my favorite Tarantino movies, but they're fun. I would rate them a 7.5/10 (combined). If you're on the fence about upgrading from your blu ray, I would wait to get these on super sale.![]()
The other Tarantino movie that some reviewers are trying to tell people was "big improvement" was Inglorious Bastards. Universal released the 4k. Didn't get rave reviews. Then Arrow Video (who is a great at 4k transfers) got the rights to the movie and just released their version. Well, there is almost nothing different between them. You have a split base of people saying "big improvements" and other half saying "very minor changes" with supporting pictures. I'm not double dipping. I will just keep my Universal copy. I really hate when the big companies release a 4k transfer and then a year or so later, they sell the rights to a boutique distributor and then they do their own 4k restoration. I would just like it done once and done the right way. I know it's a huge ask.I haven't watched them in a while and was considering picking them up, but now I may wait until they are on sale.
