Yeah, well, some speaker cable IS shielded and it's usually for fixed voltage ysstems- I have seen and installed it when I worked for an audio contractor in the late-'90s. It's used for installations where the areas where the runs are crowded with many types of cables and with different signals- some buildings need cabling but access by human installers is difficult, if not impossible, so it's a matter of "get it in and we'll let shielding be our friend. If a problem occurs, we'll deal with at one end or the other, or both".

Belden makes 12/2 shielded cable that's made for this- I'm going to contact them to get more info.

My 16ga, twisted pair, shielded communications cable has a run of 30 feet and do not use the ground wire. Speaker/AVR application is only a few ohms. It is not around any high electrical cable installations, that requires grounding. lol Nothing to worry about folks. @highfigh, your comment is dead on. Fortunately my application is not of concern. My wire was free, from an electrical contractor, where my son works. I think I have 300 ft left over from a partial box roll. lol

I don't think I have any interference[EMI] conditions, where shielded cable is reqjuired

I'm happy with my 12-gauge copper speaker and canare interconnects from World's Best Cable on Amazon. Pretty inexpensive for what they are. For me no need to spend more.

It's still an example of a cable that caused amplifiers to puke.
Way back then, there were speaker cables with a lot more capacitance than Kimber.
And now with better high speed power transistors and better amplifier designs, Kimber shouldn't be a worry.
(other than its way too high price)
