local stream is closest to perfection on the Eversolo dmpa6 which has an ssd card that’s inside the eversolo , so there’s no local network issue between the streamer and music server because there’s only 1 unit.
dvd/cd player may not fail but a scratched disc or dirty read len or dancers in the room will cause the playback to pause/skip.
There are a lot of misconceptions about potential "network issues" and audio quality. On a properly wired network, there are ZERO transmission errors. Think how disastrous the computer industry would be if data could get randomly corrupted. You could never trust any file transfer to be 100% accurate. Data integrity has always been top priority in network designs so there is no corruption that takes place between a music server and streamer. Not on a wired network anyway. Even WiFi is very reliable until you exceed the distance limits and most adapters will drop the connection if data integrity can not be maintained.
Physical discs have to be in bad shape before they start to skip. Like computer networks, the readers in CD and DVD payers have built in error correction so any small read errors by the pickup laser get corrected in software and the output is bit perfect. It is only in the worst case scenarios that bit errors become an issue.
