Started watching Borderlands. It IS that bad, like I can't even describe it. It feels like a bad TV show. It is campy, funny, but it does not rise above that. Stopped about half way, not sure if I will finish it.

Poltergeist & Poltergeist 2-4k Disc

SQ- Sound in both are good. Poltergeist comes with a lossless 5.1 while Poltergeist 2 comes with an Atmos track. None of them will blow your socks off by any means. But they're a clear upgrade from the last time I saw them on VHS. :D

PQ- Picture quality was really good. Poltergeist was made in 1982 and Poltergeist 2 came out in 1986. For being 80's horror movies, they did a nice job cleaning these up. I would say Poltergeist looked a smidge better than Poltergeist 2. While watching Poltergeist, some scenes were so crisp, it was like it was made within the last few years. It's sometimes crazy to watch these older movies and have them look so damn good! Credit to the studios for doing a great 4k restoration job.

Overall- these would be great additions to have for any 4k collectors out there. Poltergeist was a fun movie back in the day and it still holds up today. It was nice seeing everyone from the original, return for Poltergeist 2. Poltergeist 2 had a little big bigger budget, but overall story was not as strong as the first one. It was still fun to watch. :D:)

Haha!

Up next will be the new 4k disc of Nightmare on Elm Street. Looking forward to that. I also have the Friday the 13th (remake from 2009) 4k Disc from Arrow Video I need to watch. Never saw it.

I hope that Longlegs horror movie gets put on a streaming service soon. Would like to add that to my Halloween Horror movie marathon list.

I already saw the Longlegs 4K streaming. It was not scary at all - not even a little bit.

Creepy and some suspenseful tension with some of the "watching" shots, but no... Not really scary.

I watched it a week or two ago and don't really have much to say about it one way or another. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but I didn't hate it either.

Same here. I thought "Longlegs" was okay, but nothing good to say about it.

I just mainly want to see it to my boy Nic Cage! I will be watching Willy's Wonderland this month. Looking forward to seeing that crazy Cage movie. If you haven't seen it yet, and if you're into crazy Cage movies, you need to check out Mandy. It's an awesome movie.

Cujo 4k disc

I had never seen Cujo before last night. I never read the book either. Classic 80's "horror" movie. Cujo was released a few months before another Steven King horror flick, Christine. Kino did another great 4k restoration for this movie. Picture was pretty clean. Had a few soft spot moments, but otherwise the picture was pretty good for it's age. I can only imagine it was pretty grainy looking on VHS.

The movie has a 5.1 soundtrack. Most of the sound will be coming from the front 3. There were a few bird noises that came from the back speakers, but that was about it. I don't expect to be blown away from 80's low budget horror movies. :D

Overall, if you're a fan of of Cujo and want the best looking and sounding version of the movie, then go pick this up. Otherwise, you can probably just catch it on TV at some point. :)

Nobody has been posting anything. Is anybody watching anything? going to the theaters?

After Halloween, I will be watching the new Twisters and Bad Boys 4 movies. Will put up some reviews in the coming weeks. Beetle Juice 2 is coming to 4k disc very soon. I will have a review for that as well. Zodiac from David Fincher is coming soon on 4k Disc. That is one of my favorites from him. I've got about 20- 4k movies coming in the next two months. Should be lots of good movies to watch during the holiday months. :D

I was in San Diego for over a week for a conference, so wasn't posting.

I watched Wild Robot. It was good, but not Oscar winner good IMO; it felt forced to me. Also watched Oddity. I liked it, but the ending could have been more definitive IMO. For such a good film, it deserved a satisfying end. I watched Last Straw, which sort of took a bit of its idea from The Last of Us, where it shows you the bad day that the protagonist had and also the bad day the antagonist had. This worked for TLOU, but was not as well executed here, because it doesn't end up shedding any light on the motivation. Still, it was overall a pretty fun watch. Watched Rebel Ridge - surprisingly good.

I preordered Beetlejuice2 4k even though it was just decent. I preordered Alien Romulus for Dec. 3.

My daughter loved the Wild Robot book, so I'm hoping it's pretty good. As long as she likes it I won't complain.

Fine. Yeah I saw “Strange Darling” in 4K DDP5.1 streaming.

PQ. Shot in 35mm analog, but then Mastered in 4K DIGITAL. Why not just save some time and shoot in 4K digital to begin with so you don’t have to scan the damn analog film to digital? :D Anyway, PQ was good. Nothing really stood out to me.

SQ. Sounded good. Nothing stood out to me.

Writing/Story/Plot/Directing - I thought it was awesome. Had me fooled almost the entire movie.

JT Mollner is the writer and director. He seems pretty smart. He also wrote/directed “Outlaws and Angels”, which I also liked a lot, which was also shot in 35mm analog but mastered in 2K DIGITAL. So I get the feeling I would like anything this guy writes/directs, like how I like any Taylor Sheridan and Joseph Kosinski write/direct. :D

Oh, I watched Strange Darling also. It sort of telegraphed what was going on, but I liked how it went and it still surprised me.

Never heard of Strange Darling. Had to look it up. Was this a straight to video release? haha

I watched Signs in 4k last night.

The picture was clean and the HDR was seemed solid if not flashy. There was one scene where the shadows on faces during an extended dialogue scene seemed like there were a bit too stark or binary, but I suspect this was intended in the original shot anyways - in any case there are a lot of nighttime or dimly lit shots and all felt appropriately handled and moody.

Audio was just a DTS-Master Audio track but I had no real complaints. The opening theme was much livelier than I recall and had a surprising amount of punch and bass. For the rest of the movie, at no point did the audio make an issue of itself and not just mesh nicely with what was going on in film. It's mostly lowkey but there are some dynamics when called for.

I've seen the movie several times but it had been a while and I thoroughly enjoyed my 4k re-watch.
