Living in the NE Florida now near St Augustine. Looks like we will get some big weather Thursday morning. I feel for the peeps on the west coast of Fla.

Are you evacuating ? I see the order has gone out.
Thank goodness nothing bad happens like that up here near Pittsburgh...but, you already know that.

looks like me beloved Anna Maria Island is the current bullseye. Thankfully I'm a renter and not an owner, regardless 18 years of great memories may very well be gone.

Thoughts and prayers for all the folks down there

Yes, I extend my sadness to those in the wake of Milton. How frustrating for those residing in FL. All we can do is pray for everyone's safety.

Our daughter with manfriend of 30 years, have a home near Fort Lauderdale and one near Jacksonville. The last hurricane, they survived. Their third home in NC, in the mountains, is okay.

I would definitely be bailing if I was on the west coast of Fla. Being 200 miles away from the hurricane's landfall here on the east coast, I'll ride it out. Yeah, never had to worry about hurricanes in the Burgh. Thanks for asking.

I have a friend just north of Tampa right on the coast that is going to write it out. Said his house is at 62 feet so he thinks he’ll be fine. Definitely praying for him.

My sister is in Venice, FL. Very close to land fall (within 10mi. at +8m). Just got off the phone. Wind is howling, there is rain, no power, town utilities were turned off. Storm has calmed prior to landfall. 120 mph winds.

Update: wind damage to fences, some utilities, a big mess to clean up....could have been far worse.

I have some friends who live about 5-10 miles south of Sarasota, near Vamo. It's on the mainland side of Little Sarasota Bay between it and the long barrier island Siesta Key. Milton came ashore not far away. It's too soon for any news about their home.

They evacuated and drove to Alabama. For Helene, they went to east coast Florida. But for Milton they had to go farther away just to get a place to stay.

Sigh, the MAGA dudes and dudettes are spreading lies and misinformation again, so how many unnecessary deaths are you’re going to have in the wake of Milton? At least a number of Republicans are calling it out.

I expect no less from them. I also take this as sign of desperation & weakness. They can't seem to find any issue that stays around long enough.

Pretty much a regular rainstorm with some wind for me here in north St Johns County. There is some flooding from the St Johns River and high tide in downtown St Augustine. Didn't affect me that much and I didn't lose power. The ground here is still soaked but thankfully no flooding for my area.
